Tommy Ramone, drummer of The Ramones, dead at 65

Tommy Ramone, the drummer of The Ramones, has died. He was 65. He had been in hospice care in Ridgewood, Queens suffering from cancer of the bile duct.

His death was announced on Twitter via the official The Ramones account.

Tommy Ramone, whose real name is Thomas Erdelyi, was the last surviving founding member of the legendary punk band. Their hits included: "Beat on the Brat," "I Wanna Be Sedated," "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue," "Teenage Lobotomy," and "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker."

Tommy was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 as part of the band.

The band members use "Ramone" as their surname though none of them are related.
