Toby Kebbell Cast as Doctor Doom in 'Fantastic Four' Reboot
The upcoming Fantastic Four reboot already has its four heroes in the form of Jamie Bell (AMC's Turn), Kate Mara (Netflix's House of Cards), and both Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordon (That Awkward Moment). But a good hero needs a good villain, meaning 20th Century Fox needed to find the perfect guy to give this new quartet a fresh set of hell.
And they've apparently done just that.
Toby Kebbell has been cast to play Victor von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom, in the Fantastic Four reboot. He reportedly won the role over several proposed frontrunners, including Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire's Richard Harrow) and Domhnall Gleeson (the 2013 romantic comedy About Time). Kebbell will appear in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes this summer for 20th Century Fox, so this is basically the studio promoting from within.

The reboot, scheduled to begin shooting this spring once this interminable winter ends already, will be based on the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic book series, which is basically a contemporary update focusing on the characters in their youth. The reboot will be directed by Josh Trank for producers Simon Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn and Gregory Goodman. Naturally, the sooner this gets shooting, the more time the behind-the-scenes team will have to tinker with the product for its June 19, 2015 release date. Not that a sequel is contingent upon this first one being a masterpiece anyway. A sequel has already been commissioned for summer 2017. So Fox's confidence in this project is clearly sky high. And honestly, I don't really see why it shouldn't be. This has the benefit of not being those first movies.
