TNT Renews 'Falling Skies' For Fifth and Final Season, Renews Two More
TNT is in the giving spirit, renewing three shows from its summer lineup.
The network has renewed Falling Skies for a fifth and final season, while also giving a second season order to freshman hit The Last Ship. In addition, Major Crimes has been renewed for a fourth season.
Reportedly, the producers of Falling Skies felt it was time to wrap the story up, and these final episodes will allow them to conclude the story in "the best possible way". The final season will be 10 episodes, which is a reduction from Season 4's 12 episode order. However, while Falling Skies is getting a reduced order, The Last Ship has had its order increased -- from 10 episodes in Season 1 to 13 episodes for Season 2. But neither of these compare to Major Crimes, which is getting 15 episodes for its fourth season.
Renewal negotiations are currently underway for TNT's #1 drama, Rizzoli & Isles. A pickup is expected soon, which is more than can be said for TNT's newest drama, Murder in the First, whose fate is uncertain.
