TJ Wilkins - The Voice 2014 - Tell Me Something Good - Video
TJ Wilkins sang "Tell Me Something Good" on The Voice 2014 Season 6 Playoffs for Team Usher
Preparation
TJ explains that Usher is a hero of his, and so it’s “the honor of a lifetime” to continuing on with him. Of course, Usher isn’t his only hero, as he’s big into Stevie Wonder, which is why he’s chosen “Tell Me Something Good” by Chaka Khan, which Stevie wrote.
In rehearsal, Usher compares TJ’s voice to a horn, which clues TJ in to how he should be using his voice. Usher loves TJ’s spirit, and it’s hard to argue against the guy’s upbeat demeanor and his hard work ethic. Let’s see if his voice is similarly worthy of acclaim (since we hardly hear all that much of it from the rehearsal footage).

| Adam Levine: Adam thinks so too, and adds that TJ is “a breath of fresh air” since he doesn’t just want to sing well, he wants to entertain people. | |
| Shakira: Shakira says, “The audience loved you, they adored you. And I did too.” She then calls his falsetto “the ace under your sleeve,” which is kind of adorable. | |
| Usher: Usher applauds TJ’s performance, calling him a modern representation of R&B. | |
| Blake Shelton: Blake says the performance was solid. He admits that while he didn’t understand why Usher picked him over Biff at first, he’s totally onboard now. |
