Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to Host 2013 Golden Globe Awards

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are hosting the Golden Globe Awards on January 13, 2013 on NBC. Woohoo! This is going to be good.

Anybody else excited? I'm so looking forward to this.

From THR:

NBC comedy stars Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition, Saturday Night Live veteran Lorne Michaels is coming aboard to produce the NBC show, which takes place Jan. 13 at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills.

The producer/hosts team is something of a coup for the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn, which awards the Globes each January, and for Dick Clark Productions, which produces the high-rated show for NBC. Fey, the popular creator-star of 30 Rock and such films as Date Night and Mean Girls, has in the past turned down overtures to host the Academy Awards. She and Poehler, who stars on NBC's Parks and Recreation, are friends and former SNL cast-mates.

In addition, snagging Michaels to produce is significant because he is said to have been courted to shepherd this year's Oscars telecast with Jimmy Fallon hosting. That plan unravelled, reportedly amid objections from executives at ABC, which airs the Oscars and apparently did not want to use the big platform to promote a rival NBC late-night star. The Oscars went with Family Guy and Ted writer-producer Seth MacFarlane as host and the Smash duo of Neil Meron and Craig Zadan as producers.
