Looks like the quarrel between CBS Corporation and Time Warner Cable is over, in what is sure to be a great relief to the more than three million TWC subscribers in Los Angeles, New York, Dallas and several other areas around the country.
HitFix reports that as of Monday, September 2, TWC and Bright House Networks have reached a new carriage agreement with CBS Corporation. The agreement ends a month-long blackout that left more than three million viewers without CBS, and affiliated networks such as Showtime, Smithsonian Channel and other channels.
While specifics of the agreement have not been released, the settlement comes just in the nick of time. Another week, and both parties would have had to deal with an entire legion of furious NFL fans. However, despite the media blow-up the blackout created, CBS claims that the overall ratings impact of the blackout was approximately only 1 percent.
Programming is expected to resume by 6 p.m. ET, if it hasn't already for most subscribers.
