The X Factor to pre-empt New Girl for 3 weeks

FOX is making a big push for The X Factor during baseball playoff season even at the expense of their other hit "New Girl." Simon Cowell's show has been extended to 2 hours this Wednesday. It's already pre-empting "New Girl" and "Glee" on two Tuesdays: Oct. 18 & 25 because of the World Series.

I really don't blame them: they need to accommodate baseball season, but they don't want The X Factor to lose momentum leading into November when the live shows start. I guess they figured that viewers of taped programs like "New Girl" and "Glee" are more forgiving. What do you guys think? Will "New Girl" viewers rebel? (Of course!)

Ratings New Girl wins Tuesday

From Futon Critic:

FOX has pulled an original episode of "New Girl" from its lineup on Tuesday, October 18.

Said installment, "Naked," was set to follow a special 90-minute edition of "The X Factor" at 9:30/8:30c. The network will instead expand "X Factor" to two hours.

The news comes on the heels of Friday's decision to pull this Wednesday's original "New Girl," which will now likewise be replaced by a two-hour "X Factor."

Coupled with the previously announced pre-emption on October 25 (also for "X Factor"), "New Girl" - as well as fellow Tuesday entries "Glee" and "Raising Hope" - won't air another new episode until November 1.
