'The X Factor' Picks On 'The Voice' in Promo Video

The X Factor picks on The Voice a bit in their promo video for the September 19 and 20,  2012 episodes.  The voice over announcer quips that "other singing competitions choose their talent sight unseen, but to win 5 million dollars you have to have the whole package." Can't say I agree with the message, but the promo did make me laugh.  Well played X Factor....well played.

In this promo, The X Factor team seems to be unabashedly playing up many of the show's more controversial aspects.  The basic message of the promo seems to be "we make stars and to be a star you gotta have the whole package, not just the voice," however the most interesting thing about the video to me is the way they play up the over-dramatic backstories and wacky contestants.

They even go so far as to voice over that they are "going where no singing competition has gone before" while they show clips of contestants throwing water and chairs backstage and a kid being handcuffed and singing "I'm getting arrested."

This show gets more Jerry Springer every week.  Oh The X Factor, why can't I quit you?
