The Voice - Video Recap - 09/10/2012

The Voice Season 3 premiered tonight on NBC opening our coverage of the reality competition shows for the Fall 2012.

This show always starts off strong as the Blind Auditions are best part of the season. A lot of the signature trademarks of the show were present: openly gay contestants, singers hoping for another chance at their stalled careers and auditioners who didn't make it in previous seasons.

Each of the coaches scored two contestants each tonight to join their respective teams:

The Voice Recap 09 10 2012

Team Blake Shelton

Terry McDermott sang "Baba O'Riley." He's originally from Scotland and was part of a band called Driveblind. He now lives in New Orleans with his wife and young boy. He has weird hair.

Gracia Harrison sang "I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart." I loved this audition because she yodeled! Apparently, it's not easy to do that. Adam wanted her so bad, but again, his nemesis Blake won the country singer over.

Team Christina Aguilera

De’Borah sang "Hey Soul Sister." She's a lesbian and she really looks androgynous. I think some of the coaches thought he was a boy when they were listening to her, and then were still unsure when they turned around. I like her energy.

Devyn Deloera sang "Ain’t No Other Man." It was a brave choice to sing Christina's song, which is probably what impressed Christina, but there was nothing really impressive about her audition. Even her background story about not being "confident" was quite contrived.

Team Adam Levine

Bryan Keith sang "It Will Rain." His audition was a featured audition of the season last week. His father is a Grammy-winning musician, but he didn't want to use his father's connections to get into the industry. One of the front-runners for sure.

Joe Kirkland sang "Give You Hell." He was part of a band whose lead singer quit. He took his place, but that resulted in their label cutting them off. He sees this opportunity as redemption that he can in fact sing and the label was wrong. He chose Adam because of the "band" connection.

Team Cee Lo Green

Daniel Rosa sang "Somebody That I Used To Know." He auditioned last year but no one picked him. He was very emotional when some coaches pushed their button, and Adam Levine even gave him a hug on stage. He however chose to be on Team Red Zone.

Trevin Hunte sang "Listen." Trevin is only 18 but is an early front-runner to win it all. He chose Cee Lo because he believed it is time for Cee Lo to win (why not Christina? Hmmm...)

Overall, The Voice did not disappoint tonight. I'm already rooting for some people and I just love that the coaches are back fighting.

Looking forward to more auditions on Tuesday and Wednesday!
