'The Voice' Contestant Erin Martin on Cee Lo Green: He Screwed It Up for Me

After being eliminated from the competition last night, The Voice's Erin Martin was pretty loose-lipped about her thoughts on the show and her coach, Cee Lo Green. "When I gave control to someone else, they kinda screwed it up," Marin confesses about song selection. She goes on to say that Cee Lo's choices like "Walk Like an Egyptian" took her in the completely wrong direction artistically.

"Art needed to be nurtured," she continued. Is this a case of sour grapes, or does she have a valid point?

From THR:

Martin, who said she hopes to be the Billie Holiday of her generation, also told THR that, in retrospect, she would not have been part of NBC’s reality competition.

"Probably not because they told us that we got to choose our songs for live shows and in reality we didn’t get to choose our songs so that kinda sucks," she said.

Martin said she plans to focus on making new music now that she's done with the show. "I was just enjoying being on a TV show. It was fun while it lasted and now I get to go back to being in full creative control of my career," she said.
