The Voice - Blind Auditions, Part 2 - Recap
Let's cut to the chase: I was disappointed in tonight's episode. Now I'm a little worried that the show will lose viewers next week, unless of course the novelty of the "Battle Round" interests viewers.
The main reason I'm disappointed is that the show ran out of pre-selected singers for the blind audition. They were forced to have rejected singers sing again for the coaches. That's such a momentum breaker. True that they picked singers who some of the coaches thought 'slipped from their hands' like Christina with Lily Elise. However, I would have liked if we saw new people. I mean, we were already seeing semi-pros and singers who've been dropped from their labels, so rehashing an already rejected rehash felt like a waste of time. Some of the selected singers were also gleaned over. And both of these events we witnessed tonight could only mean one thing: a lot of cannon fodder in the "Battle Round".
I guess I'm just a jaded Reality TV viewer. I really want to believe that there are still great singers and performers out there, but the Reality TV formula is frustrating me.
Don't mind me. If you enjoyed tonight's show, good.
There are enough people on this show however that I like to keep watching: like Frenchie Davis and Javier Colon -- basically most of the guys from last week's show. Tonight really didn't give us anyone as strong as last week. I'm curious to see if anyone from this week will crack the iTunes charts. I'm not optimistic.
Anyway, Battle Rounds next week. Frenchie might be singing. I'm excited.
