The Voice 2 - Live Round 2 - Team Adam & Team Cee Lo - Live Blog Recap
Tonight, the remaining Top 24 of The Voice 2 take the stage! Team Adam and Team Cee Lo will be performing with 2 from each team being eliminated tomorrow night.
Who are you rooting for? Do you think the song choices will be more inspired and creative? Or, do you think they’ll be duds?
I suspect that we’ll get a mix of both. Those contestants the mentors want to move on will get better selection than others. Here’s a quick video of the Top 24:

Anyways, I will be live blogging the night's events. So, come back soon and often for my quick judgements on the talent. :)

Katrina Parker - Team Adam - "Tonight, Tonight" by Smashing Pumpkins
Interesting song choice. She's my favorite girl. Adam advises her to simplify things and let the song be. She starts at the top of a set of stairs. Her vocals sound really great on this. As the song builds, she makes her way down onto the main stage. Her syrupy sweet voice is soaring. She's laying it all out there. She pulls back when she needs to and lets loose where it applies. Is she about to cry?
Adam looks like a happy little puppy. Xtina said her voice captivated her but wanted her to rock out more with it. Check out her full performance HERE.

Cheesa - Team Cee Lo - "Don't Leave Me This Way" by Thelma Houston
Oh. She begins atop a set of stars with a single blue-ish light backing her. The arrangement is rather sparse, which gives her a chance to show off her vocals. The big band slowly trickles in and blasts. She makes her way down the stairs. There are dancers on the stage. Suddenly, I feel like I've changed the channel to "Dancing with the Stars." Anyways, her vocals sound pretty good, except on her lower register. It gets a little shaky. She really works the stage. When she's powering through the notes, she sounds great. WHOA. BOOTY SHAKE.
Blake said it was like watching solid gold. What?! Check out her full performance HERE.

Tony Lucca - Team Adam - "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel
Oh. Interesting song. His voice sounds really good on this. Sometimes, though, he looks like he's in pain as he performs. There is so much passion in his hand gestures. Whoa. Midway through, he makes his way around the stage to the screaming girls. I can't really understand what he's singing. Either the band is too loud or he's not quite enunciating...or both. When the band drops out at the end, I can hear him clearly... That was middle-of-the-road if I've ever heard it.
Xtina thought it was good and finds him too one dimensional. She's concerned about versatility and where he could grow from here. She thinks there are bigger voices and not contestants having celebrity sway (Justin Timberlake endorses Tony, apparently).

Kim Yarbrough - Team Cee Lo - "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele
NOT THIS SONG! OMG! She's standing in the middle stage in a sparkly dress. She has a big powerful voice, but there's never doing any justice to an Adele song. She's untouchable in my book. There's more of a rock edge to the arrangement -- which is interesting. When Adele sings this, she has a natural raw delivery that is sorely lacking in this particular performance. There's not enough grit and passion.
Blake said it got better as it got along and that she was pitchy. Check out her full performance HERE.

James Massone - Team Adam - "Don't Know Why" by Norah Jones
This is a curveball of a song. This is one of my favorite songs of all time. He's seated on a wooden bench on stage and there are leaves everywhere. His vocals are sweet on this, and he dips into his falsetto. That really gets the young ladies in the audience jumping. There are some bum notes scattered throughout this otherwise middling showing. While that wasn't mind-blowing, it certainly won't get him more fans.
Blake almost threw his panties on the stage!!! Check out his full performance HERE.

Oh. I love this song. She's standing center stage bathed in red light. The arrangement is sparse, and her vocals are really raw and gritty. More instrumentation peppers in as the song progresses. Regardless, her vocals are AWESOME. Midway through, it changes gears and she starts moving across the stage. The band is a tad loud, but her powerful voice keeps up with it. Quite simply, that was the best of the night so far. GO JULIET! MY NEW FAVORITE!
"Well, this just pisses me right off," Adam yells. Check out her full performance HERE.

Adam, what is with your song choices?! She's bathed in green light and starts out acapella for a few lines before the band starts in. She's a quirky girl by the book and brings her "unique" flavor to the melody. She makes some interesting choices, but I'm not convinced this was the right song for her. How about some Natasha Bedingfield or Sara Bareilles?

Oh. This song. The arrangement is karaoke supreme. His voice sounds good, but falls off at the end of some of the lines. His enunciation also needs some work. Midway through, the set he's standing on turns and he makes his way down a lighted set of stairs. The energy is there in his face but isn't translating through his body. In comparison to a few other performances, this was dully lacking.
Blake doesn't know how to feel about the staging, and it made it hard to concentrate on the vocals. Check out his full performance HERE.

Well, this is definitely a bold and current song choice. She's...um...literally on an airplane wing. Taking things literally FTW. This song doesn't have an melody, save for the bridge-like lines. This is too low for her. She has a lovely big voice, and this song doesn't nothing for her. Ouch!
The judges agreed that it wasn't quite the best song for her. Adam says there is a big problem that comes to the stage performance vs. singing in the room during rehearsal.

Oh, man. Cee lo...this song?! I can't. She comes in like an Egyptian pharaoh and she's all decked out in the garb. I appreciate an over-the-top staging and theatrical performance. Her vocal? Well, about as good on any other performance she's given up to this point. She's what we would call a polarizing contestant. Now that we are in the public voting rounds, I don't see her advancing.
Blake points out the male strippers and doesn't think that song was a good fit. Check out her full performance HERE.

Look at his red pants and bow tie!!! He wants to go in more of a rock direction with his music. He starts on top of a big box and midway through, makes his way down onto center stage. Vocally, he's pretty solid. He's certainly better than half of the performance tonight. He has the looks, charm, and a decent voice. Yup, he'll be voted through or saved tomorrow night. He works through the crowd and the ladies eat it up.
Xtina appreciates his vocal ability, and it came off like he was trying too hard. Adam wanted him to be more dangerous. Check out his full performance HERE.

Great song! He starts at the top of a light-bulb-like staircase. Right off the bat, he's rockin'. The guitars and the arrangement are on fire. Jamar has a down-home charm about him. His vocals sounds pretty great on this. The inflections he gives certain words and lines is perfection. The band, however, might be a tad loud. Regardless, he's workin' this out. There are people on stilts!!! He nails those last few power notes. What a great way to close out the show!!!
Blake doesn't understand staging or the stilts. He thinks Jamar is too cool to have all the antics going on around the stage. Check out his full performance HERE.
