The Secret Life - New York, New York - Recap

Remember a few episodes back when Ashley started falling for Ricky and we all thought it was out of nowhere and insane? Well, I had thought it was going to go away but this week proved me wrong. The episode kicks off with Ashley and Ricky bickering in the hallway early in the morning. As her parents listen in, Ashley snaps at Ricky for not admitting there's something between them. She's positive it's more than just innocent flirting but Ricky isn't admitting anything. Ricky takes the advice of Ashley's parents and leaves for a few days. Good decision. This family is nuts. Ashley has a heart to heart with her mom instead of her dad and confides in her that she thinks she's in love with Ricky. Sheesh. Seriously?

Ricky's got enough on his plate with his ex girlfiend having Ben's baby and his birth mother showing up for some quality time. She lets him know she violated her parole by carrying a gun and is about to do time in prison for 18 months. She pleads with Ricky to spend some time with her before she goes away and he agrees. He doesn't seem like a willing participant and seems to want to get the whole thing over with. He refuses to let her see John and doesn't seem to want her around his friends. But in the end when it's time to say goodbye to his birth mother, Ricky gets emotional, sheds some tears and gives her a hug.

The rest of the group is stressing over hiding from Amy the fact that Adrian is pregnant with Ben's baby. Adrian quickly gets annoyed by how meddlesome and incapable of minding their own business everyone seems to be and takes matters into her own hands. She waltzes into school and announces to her fellow classmates that she's pregnant with Ben's baby. Score to Adrian? Ben's dad proves just how meddlesome a parent can be and orders Ben to tell Amy about Adrian. Maybe it's just me but I really don't see the big deal in this. It's Adrian's business not Amy's.

But I guess it's just a courtesy and Ben and the Sausage King fly out to New York to surprise Amy. After careful planning of how exactly to tell Amy his news, Ben loses his cool and blurts everything out as soon as Amy steps out of the cab. Bahahah. It really is hilarious. Amy freaks out, cries a little, messes up her annoying hairdo and gets right back into the cab. Ben and the King leave angry Amy in her cab and try to enjoy some pecan pie.
