The Secret Circle - Season 1 Episode 18 - Sacrifice - Recap
It was going to be impossible to top what the show delivered last episode with one of the best-to-date (see: Jake stealing every scene, the banter between Adam and Jake reaching a boiling point, Cassie and Adam calling it quits after drinking an elixir, and a minor character death), and Sacrifice kind of struggles to maintain the momentum from last episode. I want more drama!

Cassie is still upset about what happened between her and Adam, and seems even more pissy because he’s showing her almost no attention at all. Her dad keeps bugging her about telling Adam, but she insists on waiting. Why doesn’t she just tell him right off the bat? Your guess is as good as mine.
The romance thing going on between Diana and Grant is kind of boring, but his accent is cute. The accent is definitely a distraction from the boring storylines Diana has been getting lately. He lies to her about having a boat when he’s really just in the crew.
The blonde dude (Samuel) that ran from the witch hunters before ends up in Jake’s room, where he drops the bomb: Eben is resurrecting demons! It’s not really that surprising considering we’ve seen demons on the show before that took over human bodies (RIP Nick!), but they haven’t been mentioned in awhile. Blackwell was also (GASP) trying to obtain demon powers back in the day but everything went wrong and Cassie’s mom had to stop it. Papa Blackwell’s bitch-slap to the Samuel’s face is one of the best moments of the episode.
During all of the actual plot progression, Faye and Melissa are toying for the affections of some hunky jock (Kyle) and using Adam to help boost their powers. After finding out Kyle had a girlfriend after all that, Adam opens up a can on whoopass on him, and then realizes he isn’t happy anymore. Ya think?

Papa Blackwell lures the circle to the abandoned house and then takes Samuel out to where the demons were summoned so he can deal with Eben and the demons himself. They come to his aide anyway and Cassie almost get a demon in her (I’m not even going to think about how that sounds). Blackwell uses his powers to save Cassie right as Eben absorbs all the demons into his body. I knew he still had powers, that lying psycho! Blackwell tells them they need to find all 6 crystals that belong to each family in the circle and then they will finally have enough power to stop the witch hunters and Eben forever. When did this show turn into one giant Easter egg hunt?
One episode down without Cassie telling Adam the elixir doesn’t work. How long can they drag this out for? Who’s decomposed body was it that Blackwell dug up at the end? What's with that weird guy Grant and will he have any significance in the plot? It’s cool to see the witch hunters back in action after being gone so long, but this show kind of needs to pick a Big Bad and stick with it. Haven’t these people ever seen Buffy? Only 3 episodes left of Season 1, I can’t wait to see how it ends! I need season 2 renewal already.
