The Saturdays sign US deal, plot reality show

Prepare for another storm, because yet another UK act is headed for the states. Following in the recent footsteps of One Direction, The Wanted, Cher Lloyd, Rebecca Ferguson (the list goes on, and on), pop girl group The Saturdays have inked a deal and are set to work with a top US producer.

The girls are also set to work with a major US writer to secure their US debut. Not only this, a reality show might be in the works!

Billboard is reporting "The Saturdays have inked a deal with Island Def Jam and Mercury Records for a U.S. album led by a still undecided single coming in January 2013." The girls plan to build their brand in the international market.

The girls - Rochelle Wiseman, Frankie Sandford, Mollie King, Vanessa White and Una Healy, have scored eleven Top 10 singles back home, and Darkchild and Diane Warren are set to contribute to their album.

To help introduce America to The Saturdays, the girls are looking into reality show options. "We were meeting with networks and pitching ideas that this was a big journey for us, we want it to be documented," says the newlywed Rochelle Humes, who married another pop British bandmember, Marvin Humes, of JLS. "At the minute, we're here just to record an album and shoot the music video for the single. We haven't agreed to anything just yet, but it's an idea that will probably happen." Adds Healy, "It's definitely in the cards.
Exciting times! I hope The Saturdays fare better in their first offering than Rochelle's husband Marvin of JLS. But with Darkchild and Warren on board, they seem to be going in the right direction. Read the full interview with The Saturdays from Billboard here.
