The Neighbors - Series Premiere - Recap - Pilot
The Neighbors debuted tonight with its first episode, “Pilot.” Marty & Debbie Weaver and their three kids moved into a gated community in Hidden Hills, New Jersey. Marty was certain that their new home would be a dream come true (since it came with a golf course). He soon realized his decision was a mistake after he met the neighbors—they’re actually green, slimy aliens from the planet Zabvron.
Read the recap here:
In 2002, a real estate agent sold an entire gated community to a “strange” group of people. But, money is money...right? (Strange things don’t matter when one has money within reach). They also brought a “poo-pod” with them—it’s a disk with a green, glowing light in the center. With this poo-pod, the aliens/Zabvronians have daily access to everything that goes on in their home planet Zabvron.

Ten years later in 2012, the poo-pod’s battery was running dry. (The Zabvronians forgot to bring their charger with them back in 2002). Two of the aliens returned to Zabvron in their original form, simply because they were fed up with Earth. Their human exterior is actually just a cover-up; they’re actually green, slimy aliens. To return to their original form, the aliens must clasp their hands together, place those clasped hands up against their chest, and then clap twice above their heads. After the aliens return to their original forms, they leave green goo behind (unfortunately, the goo splatters all over the floor).
The "Poo-Pod"
We’re introduced to the Weaver Family: husband Marty (Lenny Venito), wife Debbie (Jami Gertz), son Max (Max Charles), and daughters Amber (Clara Mamet) & Abby (Isabella Cramp). Soon after the Weavers stepped into their new home, Marty said: “This place is amazing, huh?” Little did he know that he was living in a community filled with another species.
The Zabvronians introducing themselves to the Weaver Family
All of the aliens waited in the driveway, while holding numerous amounts of pie. They wanted to introduce themselves to the Weaver Family. (The Weavers are the first “humans” to be-friend the aliens). The chief alien, Larry Bird (Simon Templeman), introduced himself to the Weavers:
Larry: “I’m Larry Bird... leader of this community and immediate neighbor to your West.”
Larry then invited the Weavers over to his home for dinner. Larry’s family also consists of: wife Jackie Joyner-Kersee (Toks Olagundoye), and sons Reggie Jackson (Tim Jo) & Dick Butkus (Ian Patrick). The Weavers found it odd that Larry’s family was reading books instead of eating food during dinner time.
Larry: “We receive nourishment through our eyes and ears, rather than our mouths.”

In the following scene, Debbie attempted to have a conversation with Jackie Joyner-Kersee in the kitchen. Since Jackie doesn’t know how to wash dishes (because her family never eats), she threw the dirty dishes out the window. Debbie was dumbfounded by Jackie’s odd behavior:
Debbie: “Are you guys Amish or something? Amish Athletes?”
Jackie: “He thinks he can make every decision for this family, simply because he ruined his body carrying our two children!”
Debbie: “Where in Europe are you guys from exactly?”
Dick Butkus and Max & Abby were hanging out in Dick’s bedroom. Max & Abby asked Dick to show them a cool trick, so he revealed his original form. Understandably so, the two little Weavers screamed, ran out the bedroom, and told their parents all about the incident.
All of the Zabvronians showed up at the Weavers’ house to make a confession. They ALL revealed their original forms. Marty, Debbie, and their three kids were understandably shocked that their neighbors were green aliens.

Jackie Joyner-Kersee mentioned that the Zabvronians were deployed to Earth to see if it would make a good home. Since their planet’s temperature increased, they needed to find another form of shelter. Thereafter, Larry Bird had a disagreement with Jackie... he headed over to Marty’s home to let him know what happened. Larry began “crying”... the only difference was: he had green slime dripping out of his head and ears (instead of the traditional tears running from his eyes).
Larry: “This is how we cry.... you should’ve seen me when I was pregnant!”
Larry Bird "crying"
In an attempt to manually re-charge the poo-pod’s battery, Jackie told Dick Butkus—the youngest son—to head over to the garage (where they house the teleport to Zabvron). Larry revealed that Dick would be heading off far into the future, and he would also be raised by his own grand-children. This meant that Larry and Jackie would never see Dick again. However, Jackie changed her mind... she ran over to the garage, and destroyed the poo-pod. (Her son means more to her than a green, glowing disk).

In the final scene, Larry and Jackie reconciled their differences. They began “romancing” each other. They both stood still with their hands and arms raised above their heads. (This is how Zabvronians have sex). LOL!
