Sutton is adjusting to Emma's life back in Vegas. She's staying with Emma's best friend and getting a taste for how Emma lives. Her abusive foster mother shows up and puts her hands on Sutton but she isn't having any of that. She tells off Clarice so beautifully her head almost spins.

Sutton learns that Annie Hobbes has escaped and knows she needs to get money for a bus pass back to Phoenix soon. She drags along Emma's friend to a party with gambling to win enough money to leave. Emma's friend is so sweet. And she's known all along that Sutton is actually Sutton.

Back in Phoenix, Sutton's mom argues with Ted over wanting to tell Sutton the truth about her birth mother. Ted disagrees but Kristin does it anyway. Emma realizes that Kristin doesn't actually know anything. To her, the big secret is just that Sutton's birth mother is actually alive. She has no idea about Annie, what Alec and Ted are hiding or the fact that Emma even exists. Annie is calling Char because she's her aunt. What is the connection here? Why did she lose touch with her sister? Sutton's letter arrives at the house but Emma grabs it and tears it up. She reads it to Ethan anyway and thinks its time for her to leave Sutton's life.
