The Legend of Korra - Episode 7 - Video Review - The Aftermath

The Legend of Korra keeps getting better and better. The aftermath of Amon's destruction of the arena sets us up for a truly wild ride for the rest of the series. By the end of the episode, all our main characters are knee-deep into the Equalist War against Amon -- something I really didn't expect -- but now the plot is perfect.

The recap and review:

The Legend of Korra - Episode 7 - The Aftermath

Like Tenzin predicted, Tarrlock brands Lin Beifong a failure in protecting the people against Amon and calls for new leadership.

Since the arena has closed, Mako and Bolin must move out. Korra invites them to stay at Air Temple Island. However, the boys tell her they will be moving into Asami Sato's mansion instead. After some convincing by Pabu (voiced by Bolin of course), Korra decides to spend the afternoon with them at the mansion.

Meanwhile, Lin Beifong and her metalbenders raid the Cabbage Corp and find Equalist supplies. They close it down to the dismay of owner Lau Gan-Lan who screams, "Not my Cabbage Corp!"

Before heading to the Sato mansion, Korra has a brief chat with Tahno who tells her that the loss of his bending is permanent.

At the mansion, Bolin is having the time of his life with all the amenities.

Asami invites them to the race track where new cars from Future Industries are tested. She takes Korra with her on a race. She's a really good driver! She also tells Korra that she's been training in self-defense since she was a little girl.

Back at the mansion, Korra overhears Asami's father Hiroshi Sato about a "strike" as the closing down of Cabbage Corp "gave them time." She suspects that Hiroshi is conspiring with the Equalists.

She rushes out to tell Tenzin and Lin Beifong, who come back later to talk to Hiroshi. He tells them that it's just Korra's imagination and invites them to inspect his factory. Nothing is found.

Mako is upset that Korra is so jealous at his affection for Asami, that Korra would suspect the Satos of conspiring with Amon. However, Korra is vindicated when a worker slips a note in her hand to meet him later that night. The man tells Korra, Tenzin and Beifong that Hiroshi did manufacture the chi gloves for Amon, and the factory they are looking for is underneath the Sato mansion!

At the mansion, Asami tells them that she doesn't know of any "underground factory" and that her father is in his warehouse at the back. They arrive at the warehouse and Hiroshi isn't there. Lin Beifong conducts a search and discovers a tunnel leading to the factory.

Korra, Tenzin, Beifong and the metalbenders go down into the tunnel and discover mecha-techs (chi robots) and Equalist banners. Hiroshi ambushes them.

"That source was a setup!" says Lin Beifong.

"Guilty as charged," says Hiroshi.

Another epic battle ensues. Last week, Beifong demonstrated that she could be Spider-Man and in this fight, she brings out her Wolverine claws as she punches through the mechs! Unfortunately, Hiroshi and his men defeat the benders and carry them out in vans to be sent to Amon.

Meanwhile, Mako, Bolin and Asami hear the commotion, and the boys decide to check things out. Mako and Bolin discharge of the guard, then head down leaving Asami.

The boys try to sneak out with the unconscious Korra, Tenzin and Beifong, but they are stopped by Hiroshi. Then Asami makes a surprise entrance. Her father asks for forgiveness. He wanted to keep her away from his Equalists ties for as long as he could. He tells her that a firebender killed the love of his life, her mother, then invites her to join him handing her a chi glove.

Asami takes the glove and wears it!

"I love you dad," she says, then strikes him down! She also takes out that dude with electric sticks.

Asami and the rest of the guys escape from the mechtechs.

In Beifong's airship, Lin Beifong tells Tenzin that she is quitting the police force so she can rescue the captured metalbenders "outside the law". Asami is distraught. Korra tells Mako that he and Bolin and Asami can still stay at Air Temple Island. Mako goes to comfort Asami.

Wow, not only are everyone on the same page now (with Asami and Lin Beifong) -- they are all going to operate outside the law with Beifong quitting. This is exactly how we want it! Omigosh, when are the new episodes of Korra coming back??? I need my weekly fill!

I love this show!
