The High Line

Highline Park Rails.jpg

I visited The High Line Park last Tuesday. It had been raining for three days in New York City and it was the first day of glorious sunshine. Since the park is only a few blocks away from where I live, I decided to finally go and see what the fuss was about since its opening last year.

The park is like an elevated sidewalk with some plants. You get to see a lot of buildings (and people basking in the sun). I think that when the park is finished (the section from 20th street to 34th street is still under construction), it would be a better experience.

One of the most interesting features of the park was a "traffic viewing" deck at 10th avenue. I thought that was really cool. (See the video).

The sun was a bit too bright for pictures, but I tried to take some. I'll come back next time early when it opens or late in the afternoon when there is more dramatic lighting.

So I ended up getting good walking exercise, but unfortunately my body is not used to this kind of physically activity anymore! My body has been aching for rest for the past couple of days. I noticed that I've been getting deep sleep more quickly and my dreams have been a bit intense. It's really all a bit strange.

Anyway, hope to visit the park again soon and take more pictures of this city which I get to know more of.
