I was a little worried about this group of kids. So far, no one is really jumping out at me. Although, this time last year, I felt the same way. Then I grew to love Damian. That Edge of Glory music video they did was awful but they sounded so much better in this episode.
The competition will be even more fierce this year as Ryan announces there will only be one winner and not like, four of them. But fear not. He'll cast 27 more people that are half celebrities and half unnecessary.
The kids are introduced and there is a new mix of talent to choose from. Lots of diversity this year. We have a girl in a wheelchair, a boy who is blind, a chubby girl, a flirtacious girl, someone who is transgender, and an unfortunate clone of Justin Bieber.
Ryan has a quota to fill with his stereotypes.
The first homework assignment of the season will showcase the cast's Individuality with Born This Way.
The cast must work together to come up with their own choreography and decide who will sing what. Aylin immediately jumps out at me for being more competitive than the others. I can sense she may be a problem in the future. Who will be the Lindsay of the season?
Lea Michele is the special guest mentor in this episode. At first, it looks like she's wondering how much they are paying her to be there but I actually loved all of her critiques. And I agreed with her 100%.
She calls Lily strikingly beautiful and is drawn to Shanna during the performance.
I thought Mario had a fantastic voice and Lily is just gorgeous. I love her already.
Ultimately, Shanna is the winner and gets a one on one session with Lea. She's a powerhouse.
The group music video will be to Here I Go Again by Whitesnake. A handful of them struggle with standing out in the music video and a bottom three is chosen.
The Bottom 3:
Aylin. She performs Without You. The judges all look captivated but I personally thought she was kind of vanilla. Definitely the best out of the three though.
Max. He performs Always On My Mind. The second best of the night to me and to the judges. He did a great job.
Tyler: He performs ABC. Ryan basically says he's disappointed and underwhelmed by his talent. Which makes his final decision all the more odd.
The first person eliminated is:
Max.
What B.S.! He was not the worst there. Why do I watch this show? He was cute.
Do you agree with the results? Who would you have rather gone home? Which one is your favorite?
