The Gates: Day 3

I stood in the corner of 86th and Central Park West, protected from the rain by some scaffolding.
When these pictures appeared in my computer, I just have to say that I love my new digital camera. I forgot to bring an umbrella so I did not come close to the structures and ruin my "investment". (Maybe a bit later I will go back into the rain.)
Quite remarkably, a gentleman spoke to me about my camera while I was taking the shots. He was impressed by the hardware, and I was just surprised that he noticed. Apparently I bought a head turner. I was also afraid at that moment that I would do something bad to it. I'm such a clumsy person. Perhaps this is a chance for me to be a little mindful of my gadgets. (Let's see: lost an iPod, scratched the replacement iPod on the first day, dropped the $400 phone...)
There were also some good news regarding this blog: I received an e-mail today requesting that my pictures be used on a website. (Sure!) I also got a comment requesting prints. (Why not?)
I was telling one of my clients today, for me the Gates have brought me joy. (Every cab driver that I've talked to about it hates them, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.) All I know is, when I see these things in the Park, I feel that the City is being visted my something special. They're not particularly beautiful, but the idea that someone/people took time to do something for city warms my soul. I have not felt like this since the first time I arrived in New York (fascinated no doubt with the big city).
Haydee, who owns an Argentinian resaurant in Queens told me that business was very good over the weekend. I had to tell her that there are many tourists in town because of the Gates. So to some of us in the city, the Gates are not only orange, they are green.
