The Gates: Day 13

I braved the evening snow and used my tripod for the first time. As I fiddled with my camera, umbrella in tow as it snowed, I couldn't figure out how to set the shutter speed, so I turned it to the built-in night landscape mode. I was quite surprised that it worked! So I'm learning... Unfortunatley, I had no gloves again and my body was just giving up on the weather. I just didn't want to walk anymore, art be damned.

Anyway, I looked at the official site and the "official" photographer of the The Gates, and I'm really not that impressed. Just looks like the hundreds of pics on flickr. I also find something disturbing about the artists ranting that pictures of the Gates cannot be sold because they are copyrighted, and yet their official photographer is selling pictures of their work for $3,000 with the headline: "Christo and Jeanne-Claude do not receive any money from the sale of those photographs." Sheesh. These diva attitudes aside, I still like the Gates. And I will still take pictures and... sell! LOL
