The Event - To Keep Us Safe - Recap

The Event came out swingin' with a big reveal right away. Somewhere Damon Lindelof is bitter. But he need not to worry because I still feel this show is all over the place and hard to follow. We learn that in 1944 there was a crash and the mysterious 97 prisoners were on board. They aren't what you would call "terrestrial" but they look like humans. So..they're aliens? With a hidden agenda? This is making me miss V. But ARE they aliens? Or is there another reason for the 1 percent dna difference?
Throughout the episode there are many different timelines confusing me. I try to pay attention to them showcasing Sean and his girlfriend meeting, Sean in the hospital after the plane crashes being accused of murder, the alien blackmail, but soon I find myself playing a game of "Spot the Lost similarities" for fun.
Electro Magnetism - Check.
Plane crash - Check.
Teleporting to a desert - Check.
I soon start to wonder where the polar bears and donkey wheels are. Even the flight attendant looked familiar.
However, I am curious about the mysterious "alien" people and why they have a hidden agenda and are infiltrating the government. How are they living among humans? Why weren't they caught? Whatever it is, it's causing a divide between their own people. One bad seed actually kills all the people on the plane and leaves them for the cops to find. I was also really grossed out when one of them had a flashback of himself infiltrating the CIA and pulled a fake vein out of his arm. Yuck!
So what are they planning and why? Did they really save the president? What is the event? Do you believe they are aliens? Place your bets.
