The Event - A Matter of Life and Death - Recap

Sean and Agent Collier flee the FBI offices and work together to figure out their next step. After making sure the bad guy chasing them ends up in a ditch somewhere, they do some digging and discover one of Vicky's aliases has some recent activity. This information leads them to a house nearby. Hoping Leila is inside, they go in, only to find a little old lady answers the door.

This show makes me so paranoid I half expected her to whip out a gun. While she didn't go that far, she is however lying about who she is. Sean discovers that she is in fact Vicky's mother, and Vicky's son is alone upstairs. Her son hasn't seen his mother for a long time and they can't keep in touch with her. I wonder what her mom thinks she does? Sean takes a picture of the kid to "show his mother how big he's getting" but I have big hopes he'll use it for blackmail in the not so distant future. I really hate her.

We learn the passengers of the plane crash have been moved to a quarantine facility, where they are being interviewed on what they remember. Personally, I'd be more worried why I was being kept in a teeny little room and being interviewed by the FBI. I'd probably think I was abducted or something. The men in charge ponder over why the passengers were kept alive and why and what was done to them in the first place. Was it a display of power? A warning of things that could possibly happen if things don't go the "aliens'" way? Looks that way. The president gets a phone call from Thomas, the rogue, rebel prisoner living among humans. He blackmails the president for Sophia's release, promising that more will die if he doesn't get his way. More? That's when all the passengers in quarantine get nosebleeds.

Leila is still being held captive but is moved to a new location, a basement somewhere where they tie her up again. Using a piece of broken glass, Leila escapes just as Vicky is about to shoot her and runs away. Wouldn't you know it, a police car happens to be coming down the street to save her. The cop brings her to the station and tells his  superior her story. He seems sketchy. They let Leila make a call to Sean but because he took a picture of the creepy kid, his phone is dead. My instinct is right and the cops are in on the whole thing and Vicky is in the back room delighted that Sean will soon check his voicemail and be on his way.

Who isn't who they seem? Who does Vicky keep calling? The Vice President? I'm sort of expecting the little grey haired guy in charge (Sterling) to be an alien supporter or something at this point. And the flashbacks are getting seriously old. I really don't care about Sean and Leila's Thanksgiving dinner. If they're trying to build a character relationship with the audience they're doing it wrong.
