The Color Purple - Too Beautiful for Words

The Color Purple was the best musical I've seen so far. It's a lot different from Wicked or Hairspray, so it may not be for everyone. There's also this long story that they've miraculously compressed into 2 hours and 40 minutes, so no show-stopping Act One endings like Wicked here. It is however quite touching because the story is just so powerful. It helped me a lot that I had no idea what The Color Purple was about -- having not read the book or seen the movie. I was pleasantly shocked at the subject matter!

My favorite part of the play however were the absolutely delicious dancers. The Color Purple Ensemble is HOT. HOT! HOT! HOT! I will most likely watch this again (and again) for this reason alone. We met the cast after the show, and we totally ignored some of the actors and just called out to the dancers. Haha. We talked to Jamal Story, Grasan Kingsberry and Brandon Victor Dixon who played Harpo. Hihihi.

I watched the play with my brother Paul and his best friend John. They both flew in from Southern California just to see the show. How about that?

The Color Purple

Like a blade of corn,
like a honeybee,
like a waterfall,
all a part of me.
Like the color purple,
where do it come from?
Open up your eyes,
look what god has done.

Highly recommended -- full of laughs, tears and eye-candy! Thank you Oprah.
