The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros

The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros (Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros), according its producer Raymond Lee, is not a film about being gay -- it's a film about love. Haha. Right Raymond. Raymond and I bonded over the summer and its exactly what I told him to his face, LOL, so don't mind me. The film is about being gay, growing up, and okay, love, set in the crime-riddled slums of Manila -- good stuff. I encourage everyone to watch the film's limited commerical run if you are in New York or Los Angeles. Let's support independent cinema! Maximo has won several awards in film festivals around the world, was shown in Sundance this year and is the official Philippine selection to the 2007 Academy Awards (good luck Raymond, I hope you get nominated!)
