The Biggest Loser – Season 14 Episode 8 – Recap – Work Together
The recap of The Biggest Loser – Season 14 Episode 8 – “Work Together”:
First things first: I think this show has sprinkled a magic potion on me, or somethin’. I got teary-eyed again while watching Episode 8. When did I become such a sap? I love this show so much. And FYI: I almost screamed at my TV when I witnessed the subtle romance between Jeff & Francelina as well as the amazing bromance between Dolvett & Bob.
This show happens to be my favorite reality show ever. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.

The contestants were faced with a daunting task this week: To lose a total of 70 pounds in exchange for immunity. But host Ali informed them of their chance to earn a potential 20-pound advantage for the weigh-in. If they do not meet their total weight loss requirement, however, they would be faced with a Red Line.
Let’s break down the 20-pound advantage into three sections:The First Chance to earn a 5-pound Advantage:
Biingo, Sunny, and Lindsay—the kid ambassadors for Season 14—helped the contestants earn a nine-pound advantage. The kids had to answer all 5 trivia questions correctly in order to earn the first 5 points. Result: The kids answered 4 of 5 trivia questions correctly, so the contestants earned +4 pounds. The Second Chance to earn a 5-pound Advantage:
Host Ali Sweeney asked the kids to re-take their Biggest Loser Fitness Exam from Episode 2. Their primary goal was to beat their previous scores by doing as many situps, chin-ups, and pushups as they can. They were also asked to perform a shuttle-run as well as a mile-run. Result: As a result of the kids obliterating their previous exam scores, the contestants earned another +5 pounds. The Third Chance to earn a 10-pound advantage:
At the challenge this week, host Ali Sweeney asked the contestants to dig through ten wet sand dunes, then collect 5 green arrows, and then finally carry the flagpole over to the other end of the pier (in under 20 minutes). The contestants collectively had 10 sand dunes to dig through (5 of which contained green arrows, and the other 5 contained red X’s). They successful completed their task in 19 minutes, 55 seconds.
Result: They earned another +10 pounds for a grand total of +19 pounds for the weigh-in.A Makeover for an Eliminated Contestant:
Nate—who was eliminated in Week 2—has already lost 90 pounds at home. Keep up the great work, Nate! The Drama:
- Trainer Jillian was more than frustrated with Alex because she wasn’t able to stay on the treadmill for five continuous minutes. She was frustrated with Gina because she simply doesn’t give her all inside the gym.
- Trainers Dolvett and Bob tried to talk to Gina as well. Gina even disrespected the trainers at the weigh-in. My advice to Gina is: to take a step back, to calm yourself down, and to treat the trainers with respect (She’s been getting on my last nerve. She is slowly entering “Conda Territory” right now—and, FYI: Conda was the villain/antagonist of Season 13).
- Being frustrated with the contestants, Jillian exploded on Dolvett and Bob. Ultimately, they agreed that the contestants should be able to run on the treadmill for five continuous minutes.
- We also learned that Gina & Joe despise each other. But, they reconciled their differences at the end of the episode.
The Trainers set up a “Trust” Activity for the Contestants:
Due to the apparent divide amongst the contestants and trainers this week, the trainers set up a “trust” activity for the contestants. Their collective task was to partner up with somebody, then climb up about a thousand feet in the air, and then finally traverse across thin wires together whilst trusting each other not to let go of one another. The Partners:- Bob and Dolvett: Their new bromance is to die for. After waiting three long seasons to see a bit of bro-love happening between these two, the time has finally come. Whilst facing one another, Bob stepped on one of the wires and Dolvett stepped on the other. They held hands, and successfully traversed the wires together. Bob trusted Dolvett to guide him through the journey, and vice versa. I’m so in love with these two trainers. God, I have enormous crushes on both of them. Individually, they’re sexy as heck… but when you partner them together, it’s HOT.
- Jillian and Alex: Through this experience, Alex learned to trust Jillian.
- Jeff and Francelina: Those two lovebirds are so cute together.
- Danni and Jackson: These are two of my favorite contestants this season.
- Joe and Gina: They were able to reconcile their differences.
The Weigh-in:
Due to their +19 pound advantage, their goal was to lose 51 pounds as a unit.,- Danni – Previous Weight: 201, Current Weight: 194, Pounds Lost: -7
- Joe – Previous Weight: 279, Current Weight: 273, Pounds Lost: -6
- Jackson – Previous Weight: 266, Current Weight: 261, Pounds Lost: -5
- Alex – Previous Weight: 198, Current Weight: 195, Pounds Lost: -3
- Jeff – Previous Weight: 312, Current Weight: 308, Pounds Lost: -4
- Gina – Previous Weight: 184, Current Weight: 180, Pounds Lost: -4
- Francelina – Previous Weight: 213, Current Weight: 211, Pounds Lost: -2
Francelina was one of my favorites this season! Along with her losing 77 pounds to date, her relationship with Jeff is still going strong.
Last but not least, Jared from Subway made a cameo this week.
