The Bachelorette Season 8 - Week 10 – Recap

Here's my recap of The Bachelorette Season 8, Week 10, The Men Tell All, during which Emily’s rejects try to make the best of their dwindling 15 minutes of fame. You’re at your 15th minute, boys! Soak it up while you can!

There's not much we haven't seen before this episode. Of the dumped guys, Sean's name draws the most cheers from the audience, while Kalon's elicits heavy boos, swaying heads, and exaggerated stank faces from the ladies in the crowd. The guys in the audience, all five of them, remain passive.

To start the night off, Chris Harrison and Emily chat about the season’s most memorable moments, including The Most Ill-Timed First Kiss Ever (Doug's decision to kiss Emily while she was dumping him) and Emily's blow up at Kalon's "baggage" comment. We also saw moments that hadn't been aired before; my favorite was of Arie's two younger brothers creepin' hardcore from the bushes at his hometown date, spying on Emily and Arie make out session.

Next, we see a preview of Bachelor Pad 3, the premiere for which is next Monday at 8. Verdict: the show looks as trashy as ever! (Which means that you should look out my recaps at the normal time on Monday nights.) I don't recognize some of the contestants because I skipped out on Ben's season as the Bachelor, but from what I can tell, Ben's runner-up just admitted that she had a crush on Kalon? Say whaaat?!

In the next segment, Chris Harrison lets the guys dish on each other. The guys think this is the perfect opportunity to not only throw each other under the bus, but also verbally wrestle for more screentime. And boy, did certain guys have strong opinions. (I’m looking at you, Jersey Party MC Stevie. We get it: You hate Kalon. We’re not really diggin’ you either, so just stop. talking. Go away.)

Kalon, Ryan, Chris, and Sean are the four guys to take the hot seat. Let’s summarize:
  1. Kalon tries to justify every condescending comment he’s made throughout the season, but no one is buying his explanations. You told Emily to “run along now” while she tried to chat with you during the Shakespeare date in London because you were worried that the cold weather would make her sicker? My BS meter is clocked in at 11 right now. Maybe 12.
  2. When Ryan is asked if there was any chance that he might just be an arrogant ass, he responds with, “No!” …Which basically means that yes, he is very much indeed an arrogant ass.
  3. Chris explains his temper throughout the show (getting pissed at Doug’s comment that young age = immaturity, angrily demanding Emily for an explanation of her decision to dump him) as fighting for the things that he believes in. His speech draws some #YOLO sentiments when he says that losing a couple of good friends has made him lay everything out on the table because he might not get the opportunity to say something tomorrow.
  4. Sean is still emotional about his breakup with Emily and admits that this is the first time he has gotten his heart broken. However, he’s admiringly optimistic; he’s more open now than ever and can’t wait to love again.
After the 473859th commercial break, Emily takes the stage, which is the first time she’s seen her rejects since filming of the show.
  • Sean and Chris thank her for helping them love again. D’aww. Sean will have no problem finding a girl post-Bachelorette, and it seems like Chris might have already if I saw those Bachelor Pad commercials correctly...
  • Emily says she wished she would’ve given Doug the group date rose in London for letting her know about Kalon’s “baggage” comment. “I could be engaged to Kalon right now, so thank God for Doug,” she said. BOOM! Roasted.
  • Kalon attempts to apologize, but unfortunately the only class he has is of the inherited, old money kind. As he tip-toes around his words, trying not to set off any West Virginia-back woods-hood rats, Emily calls him out; “You should be a politician because that is the biggest load of **** that I have ever heard.” Emily 10000000, Kalon 0.
  • In the bloopers section, Emily admits that she likes guys who are “tattooed, almost homeless-looking.” So… that’s the kind of “edge” she’s looking for?!
Emily also chatted about her final two, Arie and Jef. All I remember from Arie’s video montage was their lips on each other’s; the package was probably 75% making out and 25% anything else. Emily did say that Arie has edge and humor, which she loves. Jef’s montage was different. “I don’t think it was until Prague with our marionette date that I… fell HARD,” Emily said. “It’s all come together so perfectly,” Jef added. “I feel like it’s fate and it’s meant to be. I feel like we’ll have a love that makes the storybooks jealous.”

Excited for next week? Will Emily choose Arie… or Jef… or WILL SHE END UP BROKENHEARTED. The powers-that-be are trying really hard to make us believe that she doesn’t choose anyone. Well, tune in to the season finale next Sunday at 8pm to see what happens. Were you as happy as me knowing that Kalon’s last television appearance occurred as the clock struck 10 tonight? Oh, wait, he’s on my television set in next week’s Bachelor Pad premiere? Noooooooooooooooo…
