The Bachelor Season 17 - After the Final Rose Live Show - Recap

In the finale episode, host Chris Harrison teased a "big announcement" about Sean's relationship that he just found out about in the past 24 hours. Plus, we get to meet the new Bachelorette! Find out the details in my recap of the live After the Final Rose episode here.

So, Sean proposed to Catherine, she said yes, and they rode off into the sunset on top of an elephant. Just an average day in Thailand, right? Now, we get to observe Sean and Lindsay talking it out, see Sean and Catherine reunited for the first time in public, and find out who the new Bachelorette is.

When Lindsay reaches the stage, she's a lot more easygoing with Sean than AshLee was at the Women Tell All. She's amiable even though she admits that it hurts to see him. Sean admits that he didn't have a valid reason to give Lindsay other than he was falling in love with another woman. It seems like they're on good terms now, which is nice.

Sean is stoked to hug and kiss Catherine as she comes out onto the stage. It's the first time they're in public ever since they got engaged several months ago! Catherine is giddy as usual, and Sean is all smiles as well. She talks about her attraction to him when they visited Canada mid-season. "Everyone saw him with his white hair and eyebrows, and I knew I could see him in old age," she says as the audience laughs.

"I never wanted to say goodbye to you, and I never have to now. You're my best friend," Sean tells Catherine. "Each day since the show, our love has gotten stronger, and I feel incredibly blessed to have her in my life now."

The main thing they're looking forward to do is just holding each other's hands in public. Then, they get to watch their proposal for the first time, and they both get choked up.

Now, what's the big announcement that Chris has been alluding to these past several hours? They don't have a marriage date, but they think it would be cool for ABC to cover their wedding since they cultivated their love on TV. So I guess the big announcement is that they're thinking about marriage and want ABC to cover it as a TV wedding?

In response, Chris jokes that he's ordained and suggests that they have their wedding right this moment with 12 minutes left in the episode.

Apparently they've never had a couple who is so set on taking the next step so soon. Well, it seems like they're really in love… but doesn't every couple seem head over heels in love at the ATFR episode?

Catherine has already packed her bags, so I guess she's moving to Dallas! Hopefully these crazy kids live the rest of their lives together. I'm rooting for them.

Let's meet the new Bachelorette… Desiree! The audience gives her a standing ovation. She chokes up when she explains she could have never imagined this opportunity. Everyone's been crying for these past three hours. I personally think Desiree is a good pick as Bachelorette. She's gorgeous, sweet, nice, and America seems to love her. Lesley was my favorite non-Catherine contestant, but oh well. I'd rather watch a season of Desiree over another one of Lindsay or AshLee!

So, what was Desiree the right choice of Bachelorette? How long do you think Sean and Catherine will last?
