The Amazing Race - Season 22 Episode 2 - "Loose Lips Sink Ships"

Episode 2 of The Amazing Race 22 keeps us in Bora Bora. So... warm... Wish I were there. Read my recap!

Jessica and John leave first at 2:56 a.m. They take a water taxi to find a wedding chapel. The water taxis don't operate until 7:30 a.m., so everyone's evened out.

Detour: Pick a Pearl or Take a Truck

Pick a Pearl: Teams have to dive into water to harvest for pearls. They have to shuck shells open and find two red pearls.

Take a Trunk: Teams must find a trunk underwater and construct a dining set with materials from the trunk under water.

Most teams do pick a pearl. Dave and Connor forget to get their snorkel and fins and have to go back, but they catch up quickly. Joey and Meghan are the first to find both pearls, followed by Jessica and John and Bates and Anthony. Dave and Connor find their pearls at the same time as those teams.

Jamil is terrified of the water and doesn't want to go in. Well, the Amazing Race is one of those things where you just have to go balls out and temporarily tuck your fears away. After some debate, they decide to go for it rather than take a six hour penalty, which would have eliminated them for sure.

Max and Katie, as well as Caroline and Jennifer, took a four-hour penalty at the end of the last leg. They now have to start an hour-and-a-half after the other teams. It seems like both of these teams are tough, though. They'll get through it.

After the detour, the teams take jet skis to Motu Tabu. Pam and Winnie are lost, and they waste way too much time trying to find the island.

Well, after all of the other teams get on the jet skis, Idries and Jamil FINALLY switch to the other task. About an hour and a half too late, dudes.

Roadblock: Balancing on Stilts

One team member must use stilts to kick a coconut 35 yards across the beach. I would love this roadblock! We used to use stilts in gym class in elementary school, though of course they were a lot smaller than these.

Anthony, as a hockey player, is rocking the challenge. Connor is right on Anthony's tail. Jessica finishes soon after.

Pam compares walking on stilts to walking with heels. Hmm… it's probably a little bit tougher than that… Eventually, Max and Katie and Caroline and Jennifer catch up -- and pass -- Pam and Winnie.

Pitstop

As Dave is running to the pitstop, he thinks he ruptures his Achilles tendon. He can't walk. Oh no! Though Connor gets to the pitstop first, both members need to reach the mat for them to be locked in. Bates and Anthony beat out the father-son duo by seconds and win a trip to London. Here's the final order of finish:
