The Amazing Race - Season 21 Episode 11 - "Take Down That Million" - Recap
Here's my recap of The Amazing Race, Season 21 Episode 11, aka the first half of the two-hour finale. I can't believe I typed all of this so quickly. My recap of part two will be up after that airs!
Trey and Lexi depart first at 9:32 a.m. They're going to Barcelona, Spain and then ride on a train to Loire Valley, France. SO LUCKY. I want to go to France so badly.
The Chippendales depart second at 9:46 a.m., while Josh and Brent leave in third at 10:27 a.m. The twins leave in last at 11:14 a.m.
Josh and Brent hear the other teams talk about an alliance. Awkkkkwarddddd. When they arrive in France, they drive to the Chateau de Villandry and find a Stone Dog that has their next clue. The clue tells them to find the Chateau d'Amboise, Leonardo da Vinci's final resting place.
Meanwhile, Natalie and Nadiya have to complete a Speed Bump. They have to help a lady get dressed in a corset, and they get it done in a jiffy.
Detour: Chow or Plow?
- Chow: Teams must make the daily meal for a pack of dogs by cutting, weighing and sorting raw meat.
- Plow: Teams use a traditional horse and plow and cultivate a field. Yeah, I would be completely lost on this task.
The twins and Beekman boys compete neck-and-neck at the Chow challenge. The twins call them the "evil gays." Okay, that's really not cool.
Trey and Lexi are the first to finish the detour, and the Chippendales finish soon after. Was that task a lot easier than the Chow one? The Chips arrived to the detour location last out of everyone. The Beekman boys finish up their task while the twins are still cutting and slicing up the meat. The twins probably wished they were destroying the Beekman boys at the time.
"Gracias!" the twins tell the clue giver as they finally finish.
Teams now head over to La Cave des Bources.
Roadblock: Who's a "fun guy"?
Loving the pun. One team member must search through a subterranean farm for mushrooms. They examine three different types of mushrooms and must find them in an underground tunnel area where they are grown. Ooh la la, j'aime les champignons.Lexi and Jaymes go for it. Jaymes gets it wrong on his first try, and Lexi aces it. They're off to the pitstop! Jaymes gets it correct a little bit after.
The twins and Beekman boys do the Roadblock at the same time. And… the twins get it right first! Brent can't find his way out of the dark cave. *BOOM COMMERCIAL*
The Beekman boys finish ten minutes after the twins and get directions from a couple who tells them to go to Chateau de Chenonceau. The twins ask for directions from a guy, and he tells them something that's not Chenonceau. They ask for directions from someone else, who tells them that they're supposed to go to Chenonceau! They were going in the wrong direction!
Pit stop: Chateau de Chenonceau
Even though Trey and Lexi leave the Roadblock area first, they go to the wrong castle at first. The Chippendales end up finishing in first! They each win a Ford Escape! Trey and Lexi get there a few minutes after.The Beekman boys and twins duke it out for third. NO WAY! THE BEEKMAN BOYS FINISH IN THIRD. NO WAY. I COMPLETELY DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. I am legitimately shocked. The twins are eliminated, and the power alliance is broken up! What a victory for the underdog team. (Too bad they're not going to win the million… right? They've proved us wrong so many times, so we'll see what happens in an hour!)
