Telma Hopkins has been cast as Martin Lawrence's mother on his new comedy, Braddock & Jackson, with Kelsey Grammar on FX.

The series, Braddock & Jackson, stars Grammar as Pete Braddock and Lawrence as Phillip Jackson. According to THR's description, the two are "brought together by fate and greed" as the "they develop a partnership and friendship, forcing each other to find the balance between the ethical and unscrupulous in their professional and personal lives.

Hopkins joins the comedy in the regular role of Ruth Jackson, Phillip's outspoken mother who has lived with him through 22-year marriage to his recently separated wife.

If the comedy makes a certain ratings threshold in its initial 10-episode run, 90 more will be ordered automatically.

Hopkins is most known for starring in the television sitcoms Bosom Buddies, Gimme a Break, Getting By, Half & Half, and most notably Family Matters. She now recurs in Are We There Yet? as Marilyn Parsons. Eh, I'm glad she may can get away from that awkward show.
