TBS Renews 'Ground Floor' For Season 2

TBS is keeping its comedy lineup strong for next season.
The network has renewed Ground Floor for a 10-episode second season, keeping alive the TBS streak of renewing freshman comedies, as the network renewed Men at Work, Sullivan & Son and King of the Nerds.
The series, created by Bill Lawrence and Greg Malins and starring Skylar Astin and Briga Heelan, didn't start out as strong as other TBS comedies, drawing just 1.6 million viewers for its premiere as opposed to the 2.7 million for Men at Work and 2.5 million for Sullivan & Son. But the show debuted in the midst of November sweeps, with much stiffer competition than either of its contemporaries. And the comedy has remained consistent throughout, averaging 1.8 million viewers in Live + 7 viewership, plus a solid 1.1 million adults 18-49 and 575,000 adults 18-34.
The show is pretty damn great, serving as kind of a throwback to the classic multi-cam workplace sitcoms of old. So this is pretty great news for fans of traditional sitcoms, as well as those who love the work of Bill Lawrence (whose Cougar Town airs on the network, and whose Scrubs continues to grow its fandom in syndication).
