TBS Cancels 'Sullivan & Son' After Three Seasons

TBS is overhauling its lineup. On the one hand, the network has renewed American Dad for a 12th season. On the other hand, the network has decided to cancel Sullivan & Son after three seasons.

With the cancellations of Sullivan & Son, Men at Work, and the imminent end of Cougar Town, Bill Lawrence's Ground Floor is the only TBS original scripted series returning in 2015, as the network looks to load up its comedy schedule with new series such as Buzzy’s, Angie Tribeca and Your Family Or Mine.

Centered on a neighborhood bar in a Pittsburgh neighborhood, Sullivan & Son starred comedian Steve Byrne and The Wonder Years alum Dan Lauria. The third, and now final, season averaged 1.6 million viewers for a 0.6 rating in the crucial adults 18-49 demographic, which was a bad number for the series to hold if it wanted to be renewed. Granted, the show was probably lucky to have made it this far, considering how poorly-reviewed it was, and how underwhelming its ratings were over the course of its three season run. Still, it was never a bad show, exactly. If anything, it recalled the more traditional, three-camera primetime sitcoms of old. And I always appreciated that about Sullivan & Son, even if I didn't particularly love the show.

But what do you think about the cancellation of Sullivan & Son? Was it the right move by TBS? Or was it a mistake? Sound off in the comments!
