Taylor Swift's VMA 'Shut the F*** Up' Moment Explained

MTV VMAs

One Direction fans everywhere found themselves incredibly enraged the night of the 2013 MTV VMAs after Taylor Swift was allegedly caught on camera dissing her former boyfriend, 1D member Harry Styles, while the boy band took to the stage to announce the winner for Best Pop Video. In case you missed Taylor Swift's now infamous "Shut the f*** up" moment, take a look at the video below.

While Swift has yet to make an official comment regarding the controversial moment, the singer's tour mate and friend Ed Sheeran has spoken out about the alleged mixup. According to MTV, Sheeran explained,

[Taylor] rung me straight afterward and she was like, 'I think I've messed up'… Selena said to her, 'I think Miley's going to win the award over me,' and then Taylor said, 'Oh, shut the f*** up.' And that's what that was.

Moments later, Gomez did indeed take home the moon man. Sheeran is also a close pal of Harry Styles, the rumored recipient of Taylor's bit of profanity. If the photo above (taken at an after party for the 2013 VMAs) is any indication, Sheeran might very well be telling the truth.

What do you think? Can we trust our beloved Ed Sheeran, or is he just covering for Taylor?
