Taylor John Williams sings 'Falling Slowly' (VIDEO)

Taylor John Williams sang 'Falling Slowly' by The Swell Season on The Voice Season 7 Semi-Finals on Monday, December 8, 2014 for Team Gwen Stefani.

I thought this would be better than it was, honestly. The problem with doing this song is that in order to ensure the chorus is in the sweet spot of your voice, the verses have to be pitched unnaturally low. So basically, you're sabotaging the verses to make sure the chorus works, and it ends up meaning that only half the performance is good. Unless you're someone like Kris Allen, who finds a middle ground by changing the key and nailing both parts of the track. But even if this had been in a perfect key for Taylor John, I thought the band hurt him a bit by undercutting him right when he was at the best part of his performance. Adding percussion to this was so stunningly unnecessary, and it undermined the emotional power of the song by trying to give it a beat

Adam thought it was the perfect song choice, while Blake also notes how much he liked the performance. Pharrell is a fan of Taylor John's artistry and emotional connection with a song, while Gwen gushes about Taylor John by telling him that they're all fans of him, and that he'll inevitably make a record. I would certainly hope so.

But what do you think of Taylor John Williams?
