Taylor John Williams sings 'Blank Space' (VIDEO)

Taylor John Williams sang 'Blank Space' by Taylor Swift on The Voice Season 7 Semi-Finals on Monday, December 8, 2014 for Team Gwen Stefani.

Taylor is singing 'Blank Space' by Taylor Swift, and it's kind of a middle of the road performance. Cool arrangement for the first half, but Paul Mirkovich's pathological need for unnecessary percussion undermines it again. Still, I mostly enjoyed it, even though it seemed like Taylor forgot a lyric or two at the start. I'm not sure though, could have just been the nature of this song. It's been a bit of a weird night for Taylor, in that he had two songs he should have absolutely killed, but he just ended up being simply okay. Not great, not bad, just fine. I think his formerly guaranteed spot in the Top 3 is a bit in jeopardy, unless the overall popularity of this song carries him to the top of the charts. Hell, a grandma buying this song for her granddaughter on an iTunes gift card could easily get the Taylors confused (okay, no. But I'm just spitballing here). That said, one thing I've always loved about Taylor is that his imperfections make his performances all the better, because there's a rawness to his talent that makes him a compelling performer to watch, even when his song choices write a check that the performance doesn't end up cashing.

Adam can hardly talk over the screams of the crowd, but once they calm down, he tells Taylor what a great job he did. We're running out time, so the praise is kept short, not that Taylor hasn't been getting heaps of praise all season anyway. And hey, he's deserved it, for the most part.

But what do you think of Taylor John Williams?
