Synchronised Swimming Team Final - London 2012 Olympics - Results

If you had told me before these Olympics started that one of the events I would most be looking forward to in the final few days of competition would be the Synchronised Swimming Team Final, I would have told you, you were crazy.  However, after the awesomeness that was the duets final, I was actually excited to see what the teams had in store for us at the London 2012 Olympics.

Here are your medal results:

The synchronised swimming team event is a lot like a group dance routine in the pool.  Which begs the question, if we can have horse dancing and swim dancing in the Olympics, why can't we have just regular old dancing?  Get on it Nigel!

The team event seems to be a bit less about creative choreography and more about tricks and lifts.  The heavily favored Russian team didn't have the most interesting or creative routine, but they definitely had the highest level of technical difficulty with lots of huge lifts, jumps, flips and complicated patterns.  They so dominated the other teams that they had the gold medal locked up before eventual silver medalist China even jumped in the pool.

The Chinese and Spanish teams were also very good.  They both did fun routines with some interesting tricks, but didn't quite have the speed, power and amplitude of the Russian team.  All in all it was a fun event and I'll be looking forward to seeing more of the same at the next Olympics.

Results:

Gold: Russia

Silver: China

Bronze: Spain
