Switched At Birth – Season 2 Episode 7 – Recap – Drive in the Knife

The recap of Switched At Birth – Season 2 Episode 7 – “Drive in the Knife”:

As usual, a lot happened in the seventh episode of Switched At Birth. I will do my best to break down the individual storylines for ya.

On John Kennish running for State Senate: Let’s just say that John Kennish’s (D.W. Moffett) representative Ivan isn’t the most likeable character on the show. He treats John as his inferior, and he doesn’t think that John has the slightest chance of beating Patricia Sawyer at the election. [Then, why is he representing John in the election, you ask? Probably just to win the cold hard, cash. Ivan is such a gold digger.] Also in the episode: Bay (Vanessa Marano) designed a billboard for John’s campaign, but after she overheard Ivan talking bad about John over the phone, she decided not to turn in her design.

Bay's design

On whether or not Patricia Sawyer sent her daughter to spy on John’s campaign: Toby met a new girl at the campaign, and I don’t believe her name was revealed. She stated that she stopped by John’s campaign to “volunteer,” but in actuality, she was Patricia Sawyer’s daughter. Before she revealed her true identity, however, she flirted & engaged in a topless make-out session inside of a jacuzzi with Toby. [Guess who walked in on them, though? John’s opponent: Patricia Sawyer.] This is how Toby found out about his new girl’s true identity. She claimed not to be a spy, but I think she was.

On the potential love triangle between Bay, Emmett, and Noah: Last week, Bay & Noah (Max Lloyd-Jones) became a couple. This week, when Emmett found about Bay & Noah’s newfound relationship… he handled the situation better than I had anticipated, but he also kissed Bay on the lips. He asked her point blank: “Are you sure you’re ready to move on?” When Noah finds out about Emmett (Sean Berdy) kissing Bay in an upcoming episode, do you think Noah will resort to violence again? I think Emmett and Noah may engage in a push & shove match…

Noah

On Daphne and Travis’ rocky relationship: As we learned last season, Daphne (Katie Leclerc) has terrible timing…. especially when it comes to starting a relationship and ending one. She broke up with him at the beginning of the school day, only to have the police ask her and Travis (Ryan Lane) to come by the station to identify the attacker/robber. Daphne correctly identified the guy, but Travis didn’t want to identify the guy because he wanted to “take care of him” by himself. Whilst holding a baseball bat in his hands, Travis secretly followed the attacker to his work… but Daphne arrived just in time to stop Travis from beating the guy up. Then, John had a long talk with Travis:

“He’s [the attacker is] gonna press charges on you, and you’re 18. How much money you got for a lawyer? You are looking at real time with guys that are a lot worse than that guy who attacked Daphne. I know you feel bad that you couldn’t protect her. I promise you, this will not make you feel better.”

The guy that attacked Daphne

On Daphne’s new role in the drama club: Kathryn (Lea Thompson) convinced Daphne to play the role of “the nurse” in the school play. Also: Noah is involved in the play as well… so here’s a look at both of their costumes for the play:

On Regina getting hired and then fired in less than 24 hours: Regina (Constance Marie) started dating her new boy toy, Zayn, last week—however, he hasn’t been a good influence on her (in terms of her alcohol intake). Here’s how her situation went about: To celebrate her first successful day of work, Regina had a few drinks with Zayn at the bar. Needless to say, she was hung over the next morning, so she arrived late to work. As a result, she immediately got fired. Finally, Bay realized that Regina had been drinking later that evening.
