That 'Survivor' Editors Strike Is Over, Thankfully

Survivor fans were worried when news initially broke of a strike among the Survivor editors. Of course, they didn't have to worry long, since the strike only lasted one day.

The Motion Picture Editors Guild announced late Wednesday night that Survivor producers have agreed to allow the editing team to unionize, after a walkout by the editors threatened to jeopardize Season 29, Survivor: San Juan del Sur. The union contract provides for a pension plan and health benefits similar to all the other shows produced by Mark Burnett Productions, which is all they were really asking for anyway.

The official MPEG statement:

“On Wednesday evening, the company agreed to the demand we issued on Tuesday for union recognition for the post crew of CBS’s reality series Survivor. Contract talks have been scheduled for Friday. In the meantime, our strike action has been suspended, and Survivor post-production employees will return to their jobs on Thursday. Our picket line will stand down until further notice.”

So now that Survivor is back on track, we can get back to eagerly anticipating the 90-minute premiere of Survivor: San Juan del Sur on September 24th, instead of worrying whether or not it will happen at all.
