Let's get this show on the road!

AFTER TRIBAL COUNCIL

-After the SEVEN MINUTE recap of the season -- which does an excellent job of reiterating what a positively insane season this has been -- we kick things off with the fallout from last week's tribal council headscratcher. Everyone is confused that Tony voted for Trish, and Kass asks him what was up with his flip, to which Tony derisively responds that he doesn't play based on emotions, he plays strategically. However, he feels awful about it, saying Trish hasn't hurt anyone or blindsided anyone (um...really?), but says he had no choice because you can't take a person like that at the end.

-The final four celebrates having made it this far, but Spencer makes note of how Tony pulled out his special idol, recognizing that if Tony really is guaranteed final three, then that will create serious problems. Neither Spencer nor Kass is positive if Tony's idol is good at final four, but they're obviously leery either way, since no one wants to end up getting blindsided if he's telling the truth. And all of a sudden, Tony's big plan to keep the special idol and play his regular idol for himself, instead of bailing out Trish, seems like a master stroke of an idea. But only if it works. However, I think he's created enough doubt to possibly shield everyone from voting for him. That's what Tony is hoping, as he notes that his ability to sell this lie will determine whether he sticks around or not.

THE NEXT DAY

-So Kass and Tony have a chat the next morning in which Kass reveals she's still hung up over how Trish spoke to her last week. Tony rightly tells her to get over it, since she got the last laugh and outlasted Trish. This leads into a discussion of final tribal strategy, as Kass doesn't feel Tony has had to do that much to stick around since he started out on a winning tribe (however, he started out on the minority alliance on that tribe, so I'd argue he still had to fight like hell. Not that Kass would know, since she was on a separate tribe the entire time).

-All of a sudden, a boat arrives: LOVED ONES VISIT! This is the latest the show has ever done the family visits, and that means heightened emotions since they've gone even longer without seeing their loved ones than usual. Spencer's sister arrives, along with Kass's husband, Woo's cousin, and Tony's best friend, who came instead of his wife, who is at home with the four-month old child he swore on repeatedly throughout this game. Tony is understandably disappointed that his wife couldn't come, but he doesn't begrudge her for it. In the most poignant Tony moment this season, he breaks down in his confessional when telling the cameras about how his best friend confirmed that his baby is doing well. There's also a terrific moment in which Woo envisions being declared the sole survivor and winner of a million dollars. He then envisions proposing to girlfriend Christina Hamilton ("After asking her mom and dad for permission, of course"). Man, if this group can, they NEED to stop Woo from getting to the end. That dude is lovable like the peanut butter and jelly the final four were rewarded with here. Just an utter delight of a human being. Also of note: Tree mail reveals that the immunity challenge will involve heights. Since it's a bit early for this to be the final immunity challenge, I think this means we
still have another one to go after this. Thus, FINAL TWO, BABY! I love a final two over a final three, so this is great news.

-As we head into commercial, Jeff Probst does an interview segment live from the studio, and takes us into the green room with all the castaways, all cleaned up and looking like they've just won the million. Probst reveals they all really seem to get along quite well, and calls this one of the all-time great groups in Survivor history. He also declares the upcoming challenge one of the best in the history of the show. Talk about a hard sell...

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE

-Probst interviews the contestants about their loved ones: Kass was relieved to see someone who doesn't hate her, while Tony notes that friendships in the real world aren't like in this game, as they're truer (prophetic words he probably shouldn't be saying, lest someone try to blindside him). Spencer's sister describes him as neurotic and competitive, while Woo just seems stoked to have a loved one with him.

-So the challenge involves each of the castaways standing on a HUGE, rickety pole over the ocean. They'll need to drop a bucket into the water, pull it up, and fill a chute that will raise a key. Once it's full, the castaways can advance to the shore, where they must use the key to release pieces to assemble a block puzzle. First person to solve the puzzle wins immunity.

-Wind is a massive factor in this challenge, as the pole is swaying back and forth, and the water keeps getting blown away from the chute when some of the contestants try to pour. This affects no one more than Kass, who just can't seem to catch a break in this challenge. Tony takes the early lead and gets his key, but takes forever climbing down from the pole instead of jumping since (surprisingly) he can't swim! Spencer is close behind, and Woo coming up the rear (and Kass with practically no shot at catching up).

-Spencer makes process on his puzzle while Tony loses his lead. Woo is gaining on both men as this turns into a real race. Spencer's sister's confidence in him is adorable, and Kass's husband's pride in his wife's determination is similarly heartening, as Kass finally gets her key after a disastrous start, earning a huge cheer from her husband. And suddenly, Kass is back in this, as she begins putting together the puzzle with blazing speed. It comes down to Spencer and Kass, and whaddya know, she shuts my big mouth right the hell up with one of the biggest come from behind wins in the history of the game.

KASS wins immunity!

-Spencer is humiliated to lose to a "brain-dead weasel like Kass." But notes, "It's time to play my ass off." You mean you weren't before?

-So Woo has to be the one to go, right? I mean, assuming the others don't figure out Tony is lying about his special idol. But even then, it's preferable to keep Tony over Woo, no?

SOLARRION

-Kass is ecstatic that she'll get to send Spencer home tonight, and notes that this is the culmination of her plan to go to the end with two Brawn. Tony is under the impression that it's still a final three, since he now feels he'll never win the immunity necklace. At this point, Spencer pulls Tony aside and explains the real deal, as only a fan can: he says it's a final two, since every final immunity challenge starts with Probst saying that the winner is guaranteed a spot at Final Tribal Council where he/she will get to play his/her case. This kinda makes me love Spencer, honestly, as I love it when hardcore fans get to play Survivor. Spencer makes the case that they need to get rid of Woo, since Kass would take Woo to the end in a final two, and Woo would take Kass, which leaves them both in a lousy position. He makes a good point. He notes in a confessional that if he's able to send it to a tie, there will be a firemaking challenge, which is preferable to going home.

-Woo is worried about Spencer making moves, and scared about what will happen if there's a tie. He honestly has no idea if there will have to be a drawing of rocks, a firemaking challenge, the jury deciding, or if they'll have to "fight for it." Oh, Woo. You're so charmingly befuddled all the damn time. Kass, for her part, doesn't care what the other three guys do, since her spot is secured (seems she doesn't know it's a final two either).

TRIBAL COUNCIL

-After a brief chat about the loved ones visits, Spencer begins making his case for why Tony should keep him around, since Kass would take Woo to the end and Woo would take Kass. Spencer says that if he won final immunity, he would take Tony to the end, and tells the jury he would take himself out of the running if he didn't honor that promise. Kass notes that it's between Spencer and Woo, since Tony has an idol that will keep him around (Probst does nothing to correct her, which...eh, I guess it's not really his place to call out a lie, since it's a legitimate play on Tony's part). This devolves into an argument in which Spencer theorizes that Tony would beat him handily in front of the jury, while Kass blunders and reveals that she thinks she can beat Woo at the end. This causes Tony to realize that Spencer is right, if he wants to go to the end, he'll have to win immunity to get there, since Kass wouldn't take him. You would think this would make Tony's decision an obvious one...

-But before we get to the vote, Tony reveals that he was lying about the powers of the special idol, stating it was only good up to final five and (diplomatically) telling them they all got played. Jeremiah seems particularly impressed, while Spencer has a look on his face that just screams, "Oh man, OF COURSE I got played." We get to the votes...

SPENCER
WOO
SPENCER
SPENCER

SPENCER is voted out and eliminated from SURVIVOR: CAGAYAN!

-"I gave the only argument I could," Spencer says in his exit interview, and adds that Survivor has long been a passion for him, so getting to play for 37 days is a dream, even though being voted out this close to the end is a bitter pill to swallow.

-Yeah, this may have been a million dollar mistake on Tony's part if Spencer ends up being right. During the break, we go live to the studio as Probst shows where the castaways go after getting voted out (they basically go to a tent and get a physical examination) before interviewing Spencer's adorable mother in the audience.

AFTER TRIBAL COUNCIL

-So it's confirmed that there's a final immunity challenge the next day, and nobody is particularly thrilled about it. Kass says the other two guys are more depressed about it than she is, since they realize they might have to go at each other's throats. Of course, that assumes she wins the next immunity challenge. That night, Kass tells Woo that they have to do everything they can to keep Tony from winning, and Woo agrees. Neither feels like they have a shot against Tony, and so Kass pleads with Woo that no matter what happens, he can't let Tony talk him into changing his mind if he wins immunity. Woo says he'd be the stupidest Survivor contestant ever if he won immunity but chose to take Tony. Yes. Yes, he would be. Although I feel like that soundbite borders on spoiler territory with how much attention the editing team gave it.

FINAL IMMUNITY CHALLENGE

-The challenge involves racing through a maze of turnstiles (some locked, some unlocked) and collecting four medallions along the way that will unlock a series of cogs that, when assembled, will raise the winning castaway's flag. Should be a crazy race.

-Tony is off to a killer start, with Woo close behind. But not because he's figured out the maze himself. Rather, he just decides to follow Tony's every move. "Woo following Tony, step for step!" Probst declares, and if that ain't a fitting summation of the game, I have no idea what is.

-Woo separates from Tony and takes the lead by separating from Tony, eventually finding and untying his fourth medallion. He gets to the station to begin working on the cog puzzle, with Tony close behind, and Kass in dead last. However, the puzzle is harder than it looks, and Woo quickly loses his lead. Tony and Kass catch up, and it's suddenly a three-way race...which becomes an intense two-way race when Kass and Woo finish their puzzles at virtually the same time, with Woo raising his flag just one second before Kass.

WOO wins Immunity and advances to the FINAL TRIBAL COUNCIL!

Credit: CBS

-So Woo now gets to decide whom to take to the end, and I'll be shocked if his line earlier wasn't an editing spoiler. For her part, Kass feels like an Olympic sprinter who just lost the gold by a second. She says she needed to be the one to make this decision, worrying that Woo might be able to beat her at the end. We go live to the studio where Probst interviews audience members about whom Woo should take to the end, and a kid says Woo should take Kass since no one respects her. It's great to see the youth of America getting as obsessed with Survivor as I am.

WOO'S CHOICE

-After all the martial arts championships he's won, Judo declares this to be the biggest win of his life. However, he doesn't like the responsibility that comes with it, as now he has to choose whom to take to the end. Tony takes Woo aside and begins politicking, saying that if Woo gets rid of him, he can't tell the jury he played an honorable game. He tells Woo he has no chance against Kass, since she actually "did stuff" in the game, even though they turned out to be the wrong moves. Of course, this ignores that Tony did even more stuff than Kass, except his plans actually worked! So Woo would be in an even worse position if he took Tony. Woo tells Tony he respects him, but he needs to think about him.

-Kass takes Woo aside and makes a strong case, saying Tony only brought her this far because he knew she would be easy to beat at the end. And now, suddenly, he's saying she's a threat to win? It's bull, and the jury would give Tony the million in a heartbeat. Kass compares Woo to Judd "Fabio" Birza, the winner of Survivor: Nicaragua, a surfer dude who didn't do much of anything until the end. Woo says he needs to take the day to think about it, but in a confessional, Kass says that she hates that the one guy who hasn't made a decision this entire game suddenly will decide her fate. Woo mulls over whom he's going to take to the end, saying that while he'd love to take Tony to the end because of the connection they've had since the beginning, he might not be able to beat him. But if he doesn't take Tony, he'll be a hypocrite who isn't seen as loyal, and that goes entirely against who he is. Dude, Woo, I think the jury would forgive you for not taking Tony.

TRIBAL COUNCIL

-Woo thinks Tony's vote against Spencer was strategic, but also made out of loyalty and commitment to him. And if that was Tony's motivation, then talk about a risky-ass move, since it relied on Woo winning immunity and taking him to the end over the more obvious choice in Kass. Tony barely makes any case at all for why Woo should take him, which is surprising. Hell, Kass makes a better case, saying that Woo would lose a million dollars by remaining loyal to Tony. Probst asks Woo what Kass and Tony's pitches were, but Woo says he just wants to get to the vote. He says he hopes Tony and Kass will understand his decision. Honestly, I'll be STUNNED if Woo takes Tony, but also kind of floored if he doesn't, because this is who Woo is.

-Woo casts his vote, and Probst reads the final result...

KASS is voted out and eliminated from SURVIVOR: CAGAYAN!

-Tony thanks Woo for saving him as Kass just looks utterly crestfallen. Okay, Woo deserves to lose the million after that. What an utterly boneheaded move. And I've been a huge Woo defender in the past few weeks, arguing that he played exactly the kind of game he should have played, and that sometimes, making no moves IS a move in itself. But I just don't think I can defend Woo anymore. There's virtually no case I can make for why he should win after this.

-In her exit interview, Kass says that Woo made a stupid, stupid mistake, but says she still had a great time. I'll be stunned if she isn't asked back for another playthrough in a future season.

AFTER TRIBAL COUNCIL

-Tony embraces Woo and thanks him, saying Woo just did more for him than he ever did for Woo. Woo just says "One love, man. One love," and then defends the move in the confessional by saying he finally made a power move that he can claim as his own, which he thinks the jury will respect. He's glad he took Tony because he says if he took someone to the end that wasn't as talented, it wouldn't be as honorable a victory. BUT IT'S STILL BETTER THAN NO VICTORY AT ALL! HOW CAN ANYONE BE THIS DENSE?! Seriously, he's thrilled that he now has a 50% chance of winning, but he should be lamenting that it isn't a 90% chance.

-The next day, they get a basket full of goodies to cook for breakfast, and inside, Tony finds a clue. (OH COME ON!) Thankfully, it turns out to just be a clue to the location of a scale and a mirror, where they can look at and weigh themselves, comparing their starting weights to now. Woo and Tony weigh themselves, as we get confessionals in which both men argue why they want this, as Tony wants to provide for his family, and Woo wants to help out his mother, who is disabled following a heart attack. Well, there's no arguing that both men could really use the money.

FINAL TRIBAL COUNCIL

-Opening statements: Tony says he's here to give the jury the truth, and says he wants them to know it was nothing emotional or personal. It was all based on strategy. He also thanks Woo for bringing him this far. Woo, meanwhile, says he came into the game knowing it was a game of deception and lies, but wanted to abide by the principles of Tae-Kwon Do in his game: Respect, loyalty, integrity, discipline, and harmony between mind and body. He knows he didn't play a perfect game, but he played a game that honored who he was, and honored his mother, who showed him what perseverance and bravery truly are. That....was actually a really good speech, and quite moving.

-In the studio, Probst interviews Parvati Shallow, winner of Survivor: Micronesia, and host of Survivor Live! She cautions against being defensive in front of the jury, and says you have to show vulnerability, but also have to defend your votes in front of the jury. Probst puts her on the spot and asks whom she'd vote for, and she says she loves Woo but would vote for Tony. And yeah, that's basically where I'm at right now.

-Now it's time to get to the final questions:

Sarah: Sarah tells Tony he broke his promise to her not to write her name down, and she doesn't think she can vote for him now. She then asks Woo if she played the exact same game as he did, would he vote for her over Tony. And he says he would give her a lot of credit for getting there without any idols.

Jefra: Jefra says she isn't bitter, and then proceeds to rant at Tony about how he's not loyal, and demands him to own his game. He says he does own it, and goes on to say that he only voted her out because she was going to vote her out. However, Jefra refuses to accept this answer until he admits he's a villain who backstabbed everybody. So Tony admits it, and says he was trying to save himself. Ugh, I hate bitter jurors.

Morgan: Morgan basically talks about how beautiful she is, and how she's used to keeping men in her back pocket, yet couldn't do it here. She asks Tony how he was able to keep men in his back pocket, and he says it was because he was genuine around camp. He appreciates Woo for his loyalty, as well. Morgan then says she respects Woo for taking Tony instead of Kass, for taking a player who deserved to be there instead of a "goat" who didn't.

Jeremiah: Jeremiah calls Tony out for swearing on his family, but says it's actually a great move if he didn't have one. So he asks Tony if he has a family, point-blank. Tony admits he does, and with that, Jeremiah doesn't want to hear anymore explanations from Tony, since from where he's from, that's a pathetic thing to do. He then asks Woo if he wants to actually be a millionaire, and of course, Woo does.

Tasha: Tasha basically asks Tony to justify all his lies and breaking all his promises. Tony says he regrets having to turn on Trish since she never did anything against him. Tasha then asks Woo how he chose to align with Tony versus anyone else in his alliance. He responds that for the majority of the game, they weren't close. It wasn't until the Solana Five that Tony decided he needed him, so Woo decided to adapt and mold himself into the person Tony needed him to be. Genius answer, actually.

LJ: LJ wants to know who Tony really is, if this is the real him or if he's living in a fantasy world. Tony responds that he was terrified of him, and wanted to get him out of the game as soon as possible. Not really answering LJ's question. And LJ is bitter about having been ditched, so Tony explains he had to lie to get him out. LJ has nothing else for Tony.

Kass: Kass asks Woo why on Earth he kept Tony, saying he never made a move to earn the million dollars. Woo says he's a man who's trying to be honorable, and says that a million dollars means a lot to him, but says that choosing someone deserving to sit next to him meant more. He straight-up tells Kass she didn't deserve to sit next to him.

Trish: She asks Woo if it was his idea or Tony's idea to blindside her. He says it was his idea, since he thought she was a sweetheart, and didn't think he would have had a chance against her in the final three. She thanks Woo for the compliment. Trish then turns to Tony and tearfully spews how she spent the entire game putting out flames for Tony, and aligned with him when nobody in this game would touch him. She assured him that she would never turn on him. Trish then says that Tony swore on his father's grave that he would never turn on her, which she finds despicable because she lost two siblings herself. And she would NEVER disrespect their memory like that. So she asks if it was worth it. Tony tries to explain, to which Trish more forcefully demands for him to be more straightforward with her, and to answer the question. Was it worth his father's soul? "Yes," Tony says.

Spencer: Spencer compares Woo's game to that of a dog that Tony could order around, doing every bit of Tony's bidding. He says that when he had the one chance to take the biggest goat in the history of the game to the end, he instead continued to be Tony's lapdog. So he asks Woo if there's anything he can say to convince him this analogy doesn't make sense. And Woo can only say that, as a student of the game, would Spencer have respected him if he took a goat like Kass? Spencer says yes, and that he would have expected him to. But Woo says that's just not the kind of game he wanted to play. So Spencer passes on asking Tony a question and instead addresses the jury himself, arguing that, love him or hate him, Tony played his ass off out here. He says Woo tried to excuse his passive gameplay by putting the blame on all the idols Tony found. However, Spencer says that Tony found those idols because he looked more than anyone else. In short, Spencer argues that Woo simply doesn't deserve to win, and that it would be a shame if he did just because people didn't like Tony. It's an impassioned speech, and honestly? I agree with Spencer 100%.

-And with that, it's time to vote! Of particular note is Spencer's vote for Tony, as he says he's written Tony's name down plenty of times before. "It was a compliment then, and it's a compliment now."

-Probst is LIVE in the studio along with the other castaways, Tyler Perry (whose idea it was to do the special idol, so I guess we have him to blame) and our two finalists, Tony and Woo! Probst addresses everyone and says he can't think of any other season where so many people came to play to win. He says this is why he feels it was one of the best seasons, since that's how Survivor should be played, and this is how it should end. It's time to read the votes!
