The Super Bowl Halftime Show Artists May Have to Pay to Perform

Katy Perry, Rihanna and Coldplay are reportedly the frontrunners to play the 2015 Super Bowl. But it's gonna cost them.

According to a recent report by the Wall St Journal, the NFL is looking for the artists to pay them for a chance to perform.

Allegedly, after being informed they were under consideration for the halftime show, the musicians were then asked if they would be willing "to contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig."

Unsurprisingly, that didn't go over well as no prior performers have had to shell out for the non-paying gig.

Said an NFL spokesperson in response to this claim, "Our contract arrangements with artists are confidential," adding that the NFL only seeks "to put on the best possible show."

Super Bowl XLIX is currently set to take place on February 1, 2015 at the University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
