Steve Martin receives Honorary Oscar - 2013 Governors Awards - Video
Steve Martin is a comedy legend without need for introduction, having starred in classic films of the field, such as The Jerk, Roxanne, All of Me, and The Three Amigos. He's also a published author, musician, director, producer, and performer. So it stands to reason the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences would reward him with an Honorary Oscar, an award a long time in coming (dating back to his snub for All of Me in 1984).
Martin became emotional during his acceptance speech, fighting back tears as he declared, “To get an award for something that has seeped into your bones … this has been an amazing gift, can’t be matched, wonderful and magical. Friends … fascinating, funny, and lifelong, many of whom are here. It’s a glorious reminder of the true benefit I have received.” It's a genuinely touching moment for a guy who couldn't possibly deserve this more. You can watch the full video below:
