Stephanie Nala sings 'Call Me' on The X Factor UK 2014 (VIDEO)

Stephanie Nala sang 'Call Me' on The X Factor UK 2014 Live Show 2 on October 18, 2014.

Pre-performance: Stephanie recalls how awful it felt to hear Simon and Louis' comments. She was certain she was going home, but was surprised to have been saved by the public vote. The support she's received on Twitter since then has helped build her confidence, and she's more determined than ever to deliver her best. Well, I love her work ethic. She pouted about the bad comments last week, but got over it pretty quickly, it seems. And that's to her credit, since it's best to just suck it up and fight on, even though such harsh criticism can really sting.

Nick's Thoughts: Stephanie sings "Call Me" by Blondie, and while this was HEAPS better than last week, she's still my least favorite act in the competition, and I doubt that's ever really going to change for me. It's just her voice. It's not bad, per se, but it's just so whispy that I can't really get enthusiastic about anything she does. That said, she has terrific stage presence, and seems far less uncertain in her vocal than she did last week.

Judges: Louis loved her performance this week, feeling she took the criticism and worked hard to improve. Mel B agrees, although she admits she felt bored about halfway through. Simon, meanwhile, says that while this was leagues better than last week, he feels like Stephanie is half-asleep through most of her performances. He also doesn't believe that Stephanie believes she can win, noting she comes across as if she's simply trying to survive a week. On the plus side, he thinks her voice didn't sound as squeaky this week. Cheryl takes offense, and says she wishes Simon wouldn't speak in such a squeaky voice every week. She thinks Stephanie did a tremendous job, and congratulates her on her performance. Of course, when Dermot interviews Stephanie after the performance about Simon's comments, asking her, point-blank, whether or not she think she can win, Stephanie responds, "I think I can try." Yeah...not exactly proving Simon wrong there.
