The Force will be with audiences sooner rather than later.
Disney Studios chief Alan Horn revealed today at the studio’s CinemaCon presentation that the next three “Star Wars” films would release in the summers of 2015, 2017 and 2019, respectively.
This comes six months after Disney's formal announcement that a new "Star Wars" trilogy was on its way to theaters, to be followed by a series on spin-off films centered on other characters within the “Star Wars” universe. This was a development that many fans of George Lucas' space saga never thought possible, yet Disney's acquisition of LucasFilm has seen the lucrative franchise revived for the big screen, in what's proven to be one of the biggest stories in cinema this year.
“Star Wars: Episode VII” will be directed by "Star Trek" helmer J.J. Abrams, from a script by Academy Award winner Michael Arndt.
