'Star Wars Rebels' Renewed for a Second Season

Star Wars Rebels has yet to debut, but it's already proving to be a success: the animated series has been renewed for a second season ahead of its world premiere tomorrow, October 3rd.

Produced by Lucasfilm and airing on Disney XD, Star Wars Rebels is set between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy, following the journey of a pack of rebels in the years following the demise of the Galactic Republic and the extermination of the Jedi Order. It's already a hotly-anticipated property, as it will provide us our first look into what Disney has in store for the Star Wars Expanded Universe, which is being rebooted with the release of Star Wars Episode VII.

Executive producers Dave Filoni and Simon Kinberg will remain with the show for Season 2, as will co-executive producer Henry Gilroy.

The series debuts tomorrow on the Disney Channel with a special one-hour movie, Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, before the series premieres on Disney XD on Oct. 13. If this show can prove to be as entertaining and generally awesome as The Clone Wars, then the show will be worth a second season. And many more.
