'Star Wars: Episode VII' Will Not Be at Comic-Con, But 'Rebels' Will Be
A lot of diehard Star Wars fans have been feverishly anticipating San Diego Comic-Con this year, due to the hopes that footage or some other huge scoop on Star Wars: Episode VII would be revealed at the show. But now the buzz was been killed, as it has been confirmed that Star Wars: Episode VII will not be appearing at Comic-Con this year.
The reason for the film's absence at the annual convention is because the Star Wars: Episode VII cast is deep into production for the blockbuster sequel over at Pinewood Studios in London. The cast and crew are still pretty early into the shooting process, so it just wouldn't make logistical sense to take off at this stage, although the shoot does have a two-week hiatus scheduled for August in order to accommodate Harrison Ford's injury on the set last month.
However, the news isn't all bad. Fans in attendance at Comic-Con can head on over to the Disney Channel's panel to check out a first look at the networks' animated series, Star Wars Rebels. The panel will include executive producers Dave Filoni and Simon Kinberg as well as actors Freddie Prinze Jr. (Kanan), Steve Blum (Zeb), Taylor Gray (Ezra), Tiya Sircar (Sabine) and Vanessa Marshall (Hera). In addition, exclusive content and footage will be shown. To some, this might be only a small consolation, if any consolation at all. But really, some Star Wars is better than no Star Wars at all (granted, people said that about the prequels, but I still argue that those films are nowhere near as bad as diehards insist).
