An official FOX press release has revealed a significant change in store for the network's cornerstone summer show. For the first time in the history of the series, So You Think You Can Dance will implement a "SuperVote" feature. This will be the same feature introduced on the most recent season of its sister series, American Idol.
Starting with tonight's first live performance show of the season, the "SuperVote" feature can be used to cast multiple votes online at one time. Fans can allocate a vote for one finalist or multiple finalists, for a total of 20 votes across all online voting destinations. In addition, viewers can now adjust their vote selections during the show. Once the voting window officially opens, fans can then submit their final votes all at once.
Of course, the option comes with a bit of a catch. Only fans with a registered Facebook account, who are located within the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands will be able to cast their vote(s) online. But voting will still be available under traditional means, in the event you don't have a Facebook account. Toll-free and text messaging systems will remain open for at least two hours per time zone after each live performance show airing. Further details on voting are available at the show's official website.
Tonight's live performance show will see the Top 20 finalists paired into 10 couples to work with "world-renowned choreographers who will create a dance routine representing each duo’s assigned genre."
The Top 20 finalists are: Girls – Brittany Cherry, Makenzie Dustman, Hayley Erbert, Jasmine Harper, Jenna Johnson, Alexis Juliano, Jasmine Mason, Malece Miller, Mariah Spears and Amy Yakima; and Boys – Alan Bersten, “BluPrint,” “Fik-Shun,” Carlos Garland, Nico Greetham, Curtis Holland, Paul Karmiryan, Tucker Knox, Aaron Turner and Jade Zuberi.
So You Think You Can Dance airs tonight at 8:00 PM ET on FOX.
