So You Think You Can Dance 5 - Vegas Week - Recap

It's Vegas Week! It's a bloodbath! Omigosh -- so many dancers got cut -- and some of our favorites barely made it. So many tears... so much emotion... I love it!

First off the big shocker: Natalie Reed got cut. This was so shocking Nigel Lythgoe tweeted about it East Coast time -- pre-empting the West Coast, LOL. Probably fending off hundreds of tweets directed at him in anger:

"It's a tough night. There's "Murder On The Dance Floor." I was choked about losing Natalie. She's one of many great ones we lost this year!?"

Then, one of my favorites Caitlin Kinney had an off night, barely making it to the Top 16 girls. Arggh.

And then some featured dancers in the auditions got cut: the tap dancer and a lot of girls, including Caitlin's sister.

As I commented during our live blog tonight on Rickey TV: American Idol can't create drama like So You Think You Can Dance can. This show just tugs at your heartstrings because dance is so hard, and dancers do not get the type of attention singers or actors do. This is like one of the few outlets anywhere that these artist can shine, and the producers milk it for all its worth.

I have some favorites now to make it to the Top 20 this year:

Girls: Janette Manrara, Caitlin Kinney, Asuka Kondoh
Guys: Evan Kasprzak, Brandon Bryant, Alex Wong, Tony Bellissimo, Philip Chbeeb, Kuponohi'ipoi Aweau, Ricky Sun, Jason

Who will make it to the Top 20 tomorrow?

We're live blogging it after "I'm a Celebrity..."
