'SNL' To Feature One Direction, Charli XCX and Nicki Minaj in December

Saturday Night Live is looking to close out 2014 in a big way, booking One Direction, Charli XCX and Nicki Minaj as musical guests for December.

Nicki Minaj will be up first, performing as musical guest for the December 6th episode featuring James Franco. Charli XCX will make her SNL debut the following week on the December 13th episode with host Martin Freeman. One Direction will then close out the year as the musical guest on December 20th with host Amy Adams.

Each of the three musical guests will be promoting their latest ventures: Minaj will be plugging her third studio album, The Pinkprint, which releases on December 15th. Charli XCX, meanwhile, is looking to drum up some hype for her second studio album, Sucker, due out on December 16th. Lastly, One Direction will be looking to further boost sales of their fourth studio album, Four, which came out on Monday.

This has been a better season than most in the comedy department, and far better in the musical arena as well, judging by last weekend's killer work from Kendrick Lamar. These three acts should round out the year nicely, since they're all on a major roll, both creatively and in terms of their respective success.
